National strike France

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
This was on the local radio in Santiago today as well.

Busses, trains and airlines flying out of France might be cancelled today. Not sure if this strike is a one day strike or if it will continue, but if you travel in or out of France in the next few days I would engourage you to call and make sure that you are not affected by this strike.

Un saludo,
Ivar

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Further national strike today, expected to affect 1/3 of trains and flights. Info on trains from http://www.infolignes.com/
Flights GB-Spain also affected as they fly through French airspace

Law they're protesting about came into effect at the weekend, so this may well be the last major action before horsetrading starts. Local wildcat action may however continue. Would advise anyone travelling to or in France to check status before setting off.

In The Times this morning they said that todays was a 'lap of honour' strike as President Chirac had caved in at the weekend in a speech and had sidelined the Prime Minister.
Vive le revolution

government has indeed now caved in, scrapping the law that was signed only last weekend. Air and train travel seems to now be back to normal, though I notice there are currently delays on the Toulouse-Bayonne line after a train hit a cow.
