Hello,

I'll start my camino in Pamplona in the end of August.

Have you heard about outdoor equipment stores in Pamplona?

Specifically if they sell Tilley hats with the cape on the back, i just can't buy it in my home country and it looks like a good hat.

In addition, do you know where can i get the credential there?

Thanks.

Hola - I have a Tilley hat (it has the band of air holes around the crown), I have not seen the one you are seeking advertised. Have you checked with Tilley in Canada to see if they have a local stockist in Spain. Alternatively - order it directly, unless you live in Australia/NZ it should arrive in under 2 weeks. Cheers

Do not count on a good selection of anything in the sporting goods stores.

My wife had blister issues and we stopped into the recommended sporting goods store in Pamplona to buy a pair of walking sandals. The store had a selection of KEEN, TEVA and several Spanish brands. The problem is that the display wall did not actually represent what was actually in stock in the back room. They had exactly 1 pair of hiking sandals in stock in the size my wife wears (US size 8.5, so not an unusual size).

We found this same thing repeated on many other goods where the depth of the product line is very limited regardless of product line.

My advice is that if you are looking for anything that is very specific (brand, style, whatever) then buy it at home and bring it. Mail order and have it shipped to you if you must. In Spain you will get what they have, which is typically not much.

That said we did find 1 very well stocked hiking store in Astorga. Sadly it has very (and I mean extremely) high prices. There is a modestly stocked hiking store in Leon that is widely recommended which has good prices on items. In fact the exact same pack in Leon was about 40 Euro more expensive in Astorga. But the store in Astorga has a good selection of hiking/walking & climbing gear that I did not see in any stores elsewhere along the route so if you need something specific to hiking/walking/climbing that may be the place to stop.

I trust that the spot you recommend in Astorga is Deportes Huracan on plaza Santocildes 1.
See >>http://www.deporteshuracan.com/ for more information. They specialize in quality hiking clothes and equipment.

Unfortunately Astorga is a long walk from Pamplona where the OP wished to find a hat.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

Of course you could always buy a Tilley style hat (of which there are many cheap copies) and tuck a thick handkerchief in the back?

I put a bandana in my hat to cover my neck and wear my old comfortable hat.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

There is an excellent place in Pamplona called Decathlon. It has everything you could need for the walk and all at very reasonable prices. Huge selection of hiking footwear and supplies.

Just google it for the exact location. It’s about a 30 minute walk from the old city. 10 minutes by bus.

Maybe the others who answered this were unaware of its existence. Maybe it’s newer. In any case you will be able to get what you need.

Buen camino.
