Plan to walk from Leon to Camino de Santiago in 2017 with a friend.

Hi,
I ordered my passport from Ivar so i already have it, does that mean i can just start walking and collecting stamps or do i still have to have a registration or initial start stamp?

No such thing as a registration. Just walk.

As Anemone said, Scary. If there's a cathedral or place you want to "declare" as your start place, just get it stamped there before you start out. They'll ask you where you started when you get to Santiago and your stamp from there will back that up.

You don't have to stay overnight at the start place to qualify for a stamp, btw. The stamps are records of your progress, not strictly your overnight stops.
