Path flooded after Ustaritz on way to Espelette / Souraide

She told us that very heavy rains in the valley in the previous week had caused the inundation. She assured us that there was no path we could have taken to get through, which somehow made us feel better.

I can’t offer any information on how quickly thé water will recede - still raining off and on. Google tells me there is a bus between Ustaritz and Espelette that runs a few times a day. Or you could walk on the road from Ustaritz but I wouldn’t recommend.

In hindsight the best choice for us would have been to retrace the 5 kms or so back to Ustaritz and take transport from there. But then it wouldn’t have been such an adventure and we wouldn’t have met our Camino Angel, Maia.
