2015 - October: FIRST TIMER!
Good Morning from Utah!

I am wondering about the Pilgrim's Mass. I hear that Mon-Friday the only Pilgrim's Mass is at 12 Noon. I thought I read somewhere that there is also a Pilgrim's Mass on Friday evenings at 730pm. Does anyone know for sure? It is an event that I cannot miss!

Thank you!

The Pilgrim's mass is at noon and 1930 each day. The botafumeiro will swing at the Friday 1930 mass. It swings at the other Pilgrim Masses only if someone pays for it.

The Pilgrim's Mass at 1200 is often very popular - meaning over populated. If you attend during a long weekend, a National Holiday, or a festival it will be packed! The worst Pilgrim's mass I ever attended anywhere was in May during Galicia Week when the cathedral was packed with touri-grinos, busloads of school children and people from old folks homes on tour, tourists for the Galician week celebrations, package tours that worked the mass into their schedule, and many many irate priests attempting to make order, preventing thousands of cameras from flashing, noisy groups more interested in each other than the mass and in constant motion, while we pilgrims - an abject and sorry minority – were shunted aside. I was able to hear Sister Maria Asuncion- a marvelous experience in itself!- but later all was chaos. Pick your mass carefully!

Thank you so much!!!

I just had a look, and as of today (January 2016), the website of the Pilgrim's Office doesn't mention anything about the botafumeiro working on Fridays. Did they change this policy?
