Astorga to Santiago Spring 2014

I am walking the Camino here in a few weeks and am researching a few cities. I am just wanting some feedback on which albergues other pilgrims liked or didn't like. The places I am looking at are Rabanal, Villafranca and Santiago de Compostela. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Have a look at this thread, it gives reviews on the albergues along the Frances. Click on the different stages at the bottom of the page then check the reviews on each albergue.

Hi, Morgan, and welcome to the forum!

In Rabanal I've stayed in municipal albergue which is by the main road and can be easily found. Approximately in the middle of the village as you enter turn left and head down to the main road where you'll find kind of a plaza. Directly on the opposite side is private albergue while the municipal one is on the left. Easy to find. Very nice and clean albergue with dozen of bunkbeds, kitchen, nice patio etc. And the nicest hospitalera on my entire CF

In Villafranca del Bierzo I've stayed in private albergue A Piedra, which was also nice, fully equiped and with very nice young couple as owners. Location is on the outskirt of Villafranca as you head via Valcarce route (through the valley) on right side, one of the last three or four houses.

In SdC you have a lot of options, but I found http://www.caminodesantiago.me/comm...in-pinario-albergue-next-to-the-cathed.11628/ very good and also the location is superb.

I stayed in the first albergue you hit as you enter Rabanal, next to the little bar. Basic but welcoming and nice wood stove for cold evenings.

Refugio Gaucelmo in Rabanal, of course! Founded and maintained by the Confraternity of St James (London) it is always one of the high spots on the Camino.

I'll also recommend the Refugio Gaucelmo in Rabanal.

Gaucelmo in Rabanal.A highlight of my camino. I was welcomed with a cup of tea and they even carried my pack to my bunk for me. and a wonderful connection with the little church across the road.Go to their vespers service. It was very moving.
