@Geert VE excited to follow your journey, enjoy it. We plan to go on June, 26. Hope the albergues will be open, the flights won't be cancelled and the restrictions will be lifted up!

If you want to check if the Albergues are open or not , the camino.ninja app gives actual situation of every albergue. It was an advice given by the owner of the main albergue in Porto when I called him to check the situation .

Second day on the Portugues , a lot of albergues are open , few pelgrims which makes it ideal to walk and live on the camino. I met people from Spain , Portugal, Germany , Holland and UK. I wish you all you can walk your caminos soon.

Do you think it is worth trying to fly into Porto on June 13th with US Passports? We arrive in Madrid on June 12th and have a flight on 13th.

I have heard it was possible at LIS, we do have negative PCR test within 72 hours and vaccination cards.

Once we got to Spain with the QR code things were simple because you're in the EU. Delta in JFK wanted PCR tests from everyone and many didn't bring them since Spain was saying vaccinated tourists, then about 40 minutes before the plane boarded they said okay and let people fly with just the vaccination. Huge cheering in the airport! We had the PCR test, and we were asked for it in other airports. There's really a lot more to the story but I think things will change a lot by August, I think Portugal may make an announcement this week.

We start walking tomorrow.

Buen Camino to all!
I am also curious too if airlines will be more clear in August wether vaccination only is enough or need both vaccination and PCR test to enter Portugal from NYC. All this seem so unsure, confusing and needing to spend around $200 for this Fast test here is US is too much!

Probably best to wait and see what is necessary. I am here in Canada and waiting to hear what they say as well. I believe you said you were leaving in September, so you have some time. I did read yesterday that Portugal was going to make an announcement this month or early next about letting in fully vaccinated tourists but then I read today that their covid numbers were up so who knows.

Yes it is a complicated situation. I bought my tickets and hoping things will change for the better for all and this dangerous virus stop hurting people.

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
Day 12 Thursday July 1st
Vigo and the very beautiful
island Cies this afternoon
A delightful swim to heal
my stiff body
Very strict rules on board during the 45 mns trip
, hydroalcoolique gel on hands s passenger spread one by one by a crew member , masks absolutely obligatory anytime , no food no drink allowed
Distanciation among the passengers ! And announcement by the crew every other 20mns to be careful and respect the rules
On the island distanciation on the beach ,easy si ce it is not the full season ( cannot imagine this summer !
I am staying in Hostel Real , Rúa real in the casco viejo next to the harbour
Cheap and well located (25 €) single room bath shared , basic but clean and the old lady and her one staff running it do their best !
The newly inaugurated Albergue de Peregrinos being closed
This place was recommended by Albergue Estela do Mar in Baiona
No pilgrims around
I took a break here and didn’t want to miss a swimm in Cies island...incredibly beautiful!
Tomorrow Redondela ! Who can recommend me an albergue ? There are many!!
Hopefully I wont be let alone like in Mougas , locked inside by the owners for the night and given the key of a rear door to leave in the morning !!!Hopefully there will be some company since it s where the interior and the coastal
Meet !!

Rozenn,

Your photos and blog are great. Thanks for sharing.

In Redondela the Xunta albergue, Casa da Torre, was fine December 2011.
The cozy heat, hot shower and sophisticated accommodations were most welcome. This is a nice renovation of a 16th c. town house using stone, wood, and tile. Only one other pilgrim, a baker from southern France shared the place .

Good luck and Carpe diem

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Roxenn, I was going to ask a question, but you have just answered it! I wondered whether there were many other pilgrims about on the coastal route? Was it just on the island that you were alone or have you seen others whilst walking. I won’t be there until October but love looking at you photos and following in anticipation. Thank you for sending so many.

I hope my CP coastal will be possible this fall. I'm not vaccinated and at the moment can't get a jab due to a precondition.
Hope that there will be a vaccine later this year that fits my condition and will not drastically raise the possible deadly sideeffects of the vaccination.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Pontevedra today
Exceptional Albergue Nacama recommender by Avoa Regina in Redondela
I think this is the best I saw EVER
Run by Francisco ( 32yrs ) He really knows what a pilgrim needs , each detail is well thought , the place is wide but intimate , comfortable and cosy! Francisco
Is the soul if the place , so much energy and empathy. He has no helper .. does all by himself from cleaning , laundry to
Paperwork
He opened in 2019 ..and is running at 30% of its capacity like so many others
It will close a few days now to have aircon installed .. great add! The showers are huge and you have hooks and a place to dry yourself properly .
Good luck Francisco

Hi! We are in Arcade tonight! I have been following your posts. Very informative and it looks like you are having a great time. Maybe we will see you along the way! Buen Camino!
Madeline

Rozenn for the bus you paid the ticket cash inside bus?

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Get ready to queue up for the Compostelana!
You must register on line first and fill some data’s and then get a paper with your Number from the pilgrim center
You can choose to wait on the spot or go to your Albergue and check
The progression of the line from the website but if you miss your number you have to start from the beginning again ! I personally came twice before deciding g to get a ticket and queue up because the line was not to big and since I was staying a few days I could choose a better moment
I was also very happy to meet and share with pilgrims since I saw hardly anyone on my Camino
!!!

Sorry I cannot find the app with the QCT code . I scanned it 5kms before arriving to Santiago, in Capela de Maria Magdalena in NovoMilladoiro when you come from the Camino Portuguese . They had a board with the QCR code and a nice lady helping you to fill your datas
It saved me time because I only had to get my number to queue up at the pilgrim s center
Also there is a fountain on the back of the chapel ,drinkable water
It s weird to suddenly see
This cute chapel in the middle of modern apartments blocks!
