Portuguese Route Season?

Time of past OR future Camino
April, May 2016
I am planning a Camino for 2017, Lisbon to Santiago, April-May.

Is there a typical season similar to the one formed on the Camino Frances? Now the "main season" is from 01 May to the end of October I think.

I found the Camino Frances very nice in April May this year. Wet a bit but very good hiking/walking weather. Is Portugal similar? I also would like a somewhat reliable amount of camino convenient albergues, pensions, hostels, etc I was thinking it may be a nice time of year to walk this route.

Would welcome options of that time of year too.

Thanks
Rob

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Rob
It's always impossible to predict the weather but being close to the Atlantic the CP is probably going to have some cool wet days in April May. This year it was very wet in early May then plenty of dry warm days in to early June. There are many Albergues etc. Some Pilgrims say both the route and facilities improve after Porto, I haven't walked the Lisbon to Porto section so can't comment. Buen Camino!

I walked the Portuguese last year from Lisbon to Santiago , I left late May and it was very hot indeed at times, bearing in mind the walk from Lisbon to Porto is mainly on roads and cobbled streets, the heat radiates back at you from the Tarmac.
Accommodation was never a problem.
There are very few you walkers on the first half of the walk to Porto, so it is easy to get somewhere to stay .
The walk is much nicer from Porto,I hope you like eucalyptus trees !!!
Lovely people lovely lovely wine and I was made very welcome by all the locals and I noticed how much cheaper everything is compared to the Frances
