Prepayment of lodging in this Holy Year 2010

I have worked with a Camino guide to get reservations for lodging, since I'm not planning on staying in refugios. Understandably, some require prepayment. This becomes difficult when they don't take credit cards, I am reluctant to do bank transfers, and I'm wondering how Pay Pal could become used by more of these small places, and who could help that happen. Any suggestions?

Many small family owned casas, inns and pensions do not have credit card facilities, Internet, or, in some cases, even fax machines.
When I booked our accommodation through Italy on the Via Francigena, I had to pay the agent who would then pay the casa or pension. Its all done on trust and as long as you are using a reputable agent you should be ok.
