Seeing news coverage of the terrible storms in Queensland, I send good wishes and prayers to all Australian pilgrims, their families and friends. I hope that while it is to be expected that buildings may be damaged, people will be safe.

Yes, it's a big storm/cyclone. As I sit in my house overlooking the beach and sea, the wind is roaring and the rain is pelting down and I can hear the waves pounding on the beach. And I am close to Sydney, 1000km south of Queensland, so even here we are feeling the edge of the cyclone. Floods are now the big problem in Queensland, with some places receiving 600mms/2 feet in 24 hours.
