Time of past OR future Camino
Planning to walk the Camino with my mother from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Santiago beginning in May 2017.
3 days in and loving the walk so far.
Sadly yesterday I picked up so many muesli bar wrappers and other rubbish discarded mindlessly along the way. It's also not a pretty sight seeing toilet paper along the side too :/ It's easy to pick up after yourself so please do! Don't want to spoil the walk for others.
Other then that - no complaints. Happy walking!!

Litter , especially in beautiful places is so disheartening , well done for collecting what you can [ without endangering your own health ] .
I recall walking along the otherwise pristine coastline of the World Heritage listed Wilson's Promontory National Park's Western circuit . Reveling in the unspoiled beauty of it I came across a plastic box half buried in the sand emblazoned with the legend ,'' Cake , Chocolate , Frosted , 5lbs weight , USS Carl Vinson'' .
Goodness knows how far it had floated to get there and how many other pieces of rubbish were jettisoned along with it .

Helena, Last year I took an old door and made it into a display board standing it on the side of the road by the house.
I live near Arzua and each day when I saw bottles wrappers left on the trail near the house or in the small park I picked them up and nailed them to the door to try and make people aware what is being left behind. With the season now underway I will do the same again and see if it helps.

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
On Weds. I walked from Santiago airport down to Lavacolla and joined the camino trail there. I picked up litter as I went (I brought my DitchPig tongs!) I estimate that's 13 km of heavily-used trail... there were HUNDREDS of people walking, mostly in groups, very jolly. I picked up four industrial-size black bags of litter over four hours. I was amazed there was so LITTLE litter, considering how many people there were, and are, and have been already.
Five of them said thank you. Two told me they respect me. One told me I'd missed a bottle over there.
None of them offered to help out.
God bless their hearts.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

That's odd. US warships go to a lot of trouble to separate there garbage so they only throw biodegradable waste overboard

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
