Santiago Camera

Just as a test, and I will not have it up all the time, I set up a camera out my office window:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/camino-travel

As you can see, today it is just rain rain and rain. The pilgrims that has stopped by my office today have been cold and wet and just looking forward to that warm shower.

As I said, this camera is a thing I am trying out, and it most likely will not be up much. But I thought I would post a link since I will leave the camera on until at least tomorrow morning.

Saludos from a rainy Santiago,
Ivar

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Ivar,

Technology is such a great thing! I am not sophisticated in such matters but I certainly find it fasinating. I thank you for enriching the forum with this view of your neighborhood.
Saludos,

Dennis

Well, it works! I could see lots of people walking by holding up umbrellas. By the way, Ivar, which way is it to the Cathedral? The direction of the cars, or the opposite direction? Anne

A selection of Camino Jewellery
...the opposite direction is the way to the cathedral.

By the way, this street is were the Camino Frances comes in, so you can see how many pilgrims enter town by watching for ponchos.

Saludos,
Ivar

Well, the camera is still up and it is a lovely nighttime view of Santiago - no pilgrims about, though. They probably all went in out of the rain!

Buen Camino,

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Ivar, I just checked your camera link and it still works. It's a great idea! Hopefully I can check it out in tomorrow in daylight with people. Thanks for trying this.
Cookie.

Not to steal the thunder from Ivar's fantastic webcam, but here is his competition:

http://www.santiagoturismo.com/camaras/

You can watch a mass, see the botafumeiro swing, catch jubilant bicyclists hopping off their bikes in Praza Obradoiro, or check for umbrellas in Praterias or Quintana plazas.

Well Ivar your's is working much better than the competition . Your's streams live and theirs jumps changing the scene every few seconds. Now members of the forum will have to start using your camera like they do the one at the Irache wine fountain, people call home on their mobiles and wave to the folks back home. Oh yes and when I call next year to make travel arrangements or to arrange to drop off a package I will expect you to stand in the street while we talk......................

Join our full-service guided tour and let us convert you into a Pampered Pilgrim!
If we start a competition I think mine will loose....

I am not sure if I will be keeping it on for much longer. The angel and the view is not really interesting... and it looks like I need to clean my windows (I should do that anyway, but with the sun you can really see it ).

Greetings from (as you can see) sunny Santiago,
Ivar
