what time do the shops close in SJPDP , iam arriving @ about 17:00 & i want to pick up some food for the next days march , but i really need to get a walking stick .

The supermarket should be open until 6:30 or 7:00 I think. Make that your first stop from the train station. There's a sporting goods store on the route from there to the Pilgrim Office in th eold part of town, for your walking stick.

The main grocery store in the Old City of SJPP is open 9:30-12:30, 4-7pm.
