Starting del Norte in France

Time of past OR future Camino
2019
Hello everyone, I did Camino in 2019 alone and since it was the most beautiful experience of my life, I decided to go back and do the Camino once again, this time with my fiancé. We want to go the same route as I walked in ‘19 - del Norte and Primitivo - but start somewhere else. I thought maybe it would be lovely to see Pyrenees this time and start in Saint Jean Pied de Port, then GR10 to Irun and then del Norte. But my fiancé is an athlete, has a lot of muscles and is afraid of getting hurt during first few days, before his body gets used to a new type of an activity. So my question is - do you think it would be better to start somewhere else? Is this part of GR10 too difficult? Or should we start for example in Navarenx and hike a few days slowly in less difficult terrain before we get to Pyrenees? I would be grateful for any help, recommendations or suggestions. Buen Camino everyone, whenever you’re going!

If you walk SJPdP to Bayonne, you will see lively Basque Country that is not that difficult as a starting point. From Bayonne, walk south to reach Irun and the start of the Norte. You’ll have beautiful ocean views and phenomenal food enroute.
