I will be arriving at the Pamplona airport at 10 a.m. in late May. Trying to figure out if I should just start walking from the airport, heading directly to Cizur Menor or bus it to the Pamplona bus station and start there. Any recommendations??? I'm estimating that by the time I find the bus stop, get a ticket, wait for the next bus and travel to the city, I'll waste an hour. After flying from North American, the idea of stretching my legs right away sounds ideal. On the other hand, I' m concerned that the path may be very isolated. I'd love to hear from someone who's walked from the airport. Thanks.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Waaaaayyyyy!!! You're worried about one hour when you about to walk for a month? Pull the drag chute spend the day in Pamplona , check into a cheap Hostal or Pension. Do some last minute shopping and have a good rest to get rid of that jet lag. Have a square meal - repack your pack ....then the next day set off on your adventure.(remember to reset your watch as one of our forum members set off at midnight thinking it was 6am)
You may have to get a taxi from the airport - I 'm not sure that there is a bus anymore - perhaps you can share one?

I ended my last camino in Pamplona and am anxious to get started on the next stage of my adventure. My plan is to start walking the day I arrive. Resting after the flight has never worked for me. (30+ flights to Europe) I feel that starting around noon is late and possibly hot, thus my comment about the wasted hour. Just curious if anyone has walked straight out of the airport and what the route is like.

bus it to the Pamplona bus station
Bus service no long goes to the airport! Buses stop at the circle before the terminal entrance.

Print a Google Map for the streets that go to Cizur Menor. I have plotted it a couple of times, but have not actually gotten around to walking it.

Geez, I've been to Pamplona a number of times, and would not miss a chance to wander around that town again. Well, it is your trip, get after it if that is your calling. Check out the route on Google Earth streetview. I imagine it sucks compared to the actual trail from Pamplona.

I suggest you a short sight seeing of the city till noon. Visit as many bars as you like and eat all the tapas you can find and drink a lot of beer, a real treat and then walk to the first albergue you can get too before Puente la Reina (like 5 km to Cizur Minor or 11 to Zariquiegui ) and sleep there. An easy start after a long flight.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I wouldn't want to miss downtown Pamplona/Iruna. Truly a gem. Why the rush. Go to the busstation and walk from there. Better yet, spend the night in Pamplona/Iruna and start walking the next morning.

I did that last summer when I was in Pamplona while walking the CF. Staggered into the albergue (private) at about 2:00 am. Was only able to make it to Uterga the next morning. Sure could have used some of the hair of the dog that bit me that day.

Hi
I've just checked http://www.rome2rio.com/s/Pamplona-Airport-PNA-Spain/Cizur-Menor
and I see what you mean about walking directly to Cizur Menor
But, no, haven't done it myself, sorry.
Go for it!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Take the chance to wonder around Pamplona! Even if you decide to start walking from there, and do not stay the night, embrace the Camino spirit & just WALK

The rome2rio site nails it. I don't think you can walk on the A-15 but otherwise it should be possible.

I just bussed into Pamplona and stayed at the alburgue close to the main plaza in town(near the bull ring). Just get a good nights rest and start fresh in the morning. Follow the signs inside the sidewalk and the yellow arrows..they will lead you thru and out of the city. Happy trails whatever you decide to do.

If your eager to walk then walking around Pamplona is a great place to start especially at night with everything lit up. Stayed at Jesus and Maria.

If you really want to skip Pamplona, skip it.
As I see in Google Maps, there is a bus (no. 61, every 3o min, and 60 min the weekends) that takes you to Ciudadela (that's the fortress you see when leaving the town center). The Camino goes the other side of the monument. I suppose you can take another bus to Cizur, but you can walk from there.
By walking from the airport, I see 5,8 km to Cizur, by the round point, the industrial area, then the road to Esquiroz, and Cizur Menor.
I, personally, would take a taxi to Cizur. Or better, have some tapas in Calle Mayor.
Your choice.
Buen camino!
