2023. Finish the VDLP. Zamora to Santiago.
I recently had a day in hospital and the medical staff asked for my medical history and current medications.
As I have virtually no Spanish it was very frustrating for them as they tried to arrive at a diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
I used Google Translate but not the same as having written information.
Something for me to take into account for further Caminos or travels when I don’t speak the language.
Hope this helps others.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
My health is fine, but my partner has cardiac issues, after being hospitalised in China I now make sure I carry his list of prescriptions and a copy of his last specialist report - he knew what drugs he was on and why, but I had no idea about the details, when he was out of it I was scrambling thru his diary looking for the list. I don’t carry paper either, it’s all in the cloud so I can easily access from anywhere on any device. Even in a 3rd tier city in China, they could translate prescriptions accurately from the boxes, and that was with no spoken English, written medical jargon is it’s own language.

Thank you.
It just shows doesn’t it to be cautious. This is my 6 th Camino and only the second on the CF. Never too old to learn.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
My doctor had a preloaded programme on his computer and simply pressed a key to obtain a printed copy of my medicines.
My request was obviously not his first.

If you use the old-fashioned method of paper and pen, attach the information to the back cover of your passport (inside the passport). You can be sure if you're in the hospital or a medical clinic, they will ask for your passport. No messing about with the internet connections or looking wildly for information when you're basically already having a very bad day. On the list, also note if you have any allergies especially to medications and what kind of reaction you have to each medication you are allergic to. A brief but detailed medical history goes a long way to making a diagnosis. If you have heart disease, bring a copy of your last ECG. Also, emergency contacts both in and out of Spain. Buen camino. Stay healthy

A great idea to have all the information in a place easy to reach.you could always get it translated into Spanish...
