tent

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Only if

1. You are walking in the bed bug season and you are mortally afraid of them and want to avoid albergues like the plague.
2. You genuinely can't afford the 5-8€ a night albergue charges.
3. You want to carry the significant extra weight to give more meaning to the word "penance".

Otherwise, no.

ps You might even find one on the albergue "help yourself" shelves.
pps. Others will clarify but I thought that pitching a tent on private land without the owners permission is illegal in Spain. Ditto, you can't get permission to camp on public land and its illegal as well.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
You don't NEED to take a tent, but you'll have a much more enjoyable time on the Camino if you do.

The albergues are full of loud mouthed trash and best avoided.

That sounds a bit harsh Johnny. Maybe you had a bad experience. Certainly we found it very different - eg - a lovely group of young Spanish pilgrims who were very friendly and also very quiet as were the older Spanish couple. Those who came back in late, or left early, crept out without disturbing those of us who were asleep etc..

Taking a tent Jim might depend on which Camino and the time of year, but you don't say which Camino you will be biking.
