The Way to Lourdes - via Le Puy and Arles routes

As some of you may know my wife and I walked from Le Puy to Lourdes France this past May and June

Instead of following the more traditional Le Puy route to Saint Jean PdP, we headed south from Lectoure to Auch to connect with Arles route. We continued along the Arles route until we reached GR 101 and then headed south again to Lourdes.

Once in Lourdes it is possible to rejoin the Arles route and continue on to Spain but we decided to stop here.

I have finally got around the posting a small sample of some of the photos taken this past May and June. The photos include images taken by wife and myself, and by Michael Schendl, who joined us in Moissac and walked with us to Lourdes too. Michael has walked the Camino Francis route in Spain back in 2008 and the Le Puy route all the way to Santiago last year.

These are great photos- thanks for sharing them. I love the variations in weather that give so many of the photos a 'mood'. And it is interesting to see how many 'food' photos you have included! I have shared your link with some others I know who have walked the Le Puy route, and I know they will enjoy them.

We found the walk through this section of France more challenging than walking the Camino Frances route. It took longer to walk say 20-25 km (mostly all day) than walking the same distance in Spain. The terrain, and the ever changing weather had a lot to do with this.

The connecting routes from the Le Puy route to the Arles route and then the GR 101 were well marked but not travelled by many. It was a nice detour for those looking for something a little different
