Frances - SJPdP to Santiago - Sept/Oct 2013
My daughter and I are flying into Pau on Tuesday morning, 10 September. I've inquired about a taxi to St. Jean. The Pau flight eliminates the transfer of airports in Paris and gets there EARLY!

Anyone want to join us? I think the total price, regardless of number of passengers is around 100 Euros. The train costs about 25 Euros anyway!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
The Pau airport to SJPdP is 113 km according to Google maps, and French taxis run about 2E per kilometer. You may want to check your fare estimate. Gas prices have gone up, and so have taxi rates. Since a return fare from SJPdP is unlikely for the driver, he pay gas both ways.

There are three afternoon trains from Pau to SJPdP with a fare of about 25E per person.

Buen camino!

Falcon,

There was a post from two Danish people, "Landing in Pau on 6 August", saying they had a quoted price of 116 Euros. That's where I got it from. Is this a misquote?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Pau airport to Lourdes is 90 to 110 Euro (day and night rates) for a distance of 53 km. You should contact a taxi company at the Pau airport and get a quote, I think.

It's not necessarily a misquote, but the price may be negotiable depending on gas prices, availability of drivers, etc., and the negotiable may not necessarily be downward. If you do take the train, bring a lunch with you--- the restaurant at the station, or one nearby, will happily make you something. It is a 4-5 hour journey (if my memory serves me right) without a snack car.

It is 4 hours 43 minutes to St. Jean with a 2 hour 10 minute layover in Bayonne.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
