Walk in Santiago yesterday

My wife and I strolled the streets of old town yesterdays afternoon, and I was surprised of how quiet it was... ok, so we were not alone, but it was not what I was expecting.

We saw a few pilgrims as well, but no line at the pilgrim’s office.

I guess people are planning to arrive for the 25th celebrations.

hi,

Im planning on arriving in Santiago in mid-late October. Are there any festivals in October at all? It would be fantastic to walk into santiago when something big is happening, hehe.

.. I know it is only in Gallego, but I think you can get an idea of what is happening. Make sure to check this site when we are closer to October, since they often do not post things until a few weeks before...

October is grape-picking time. Santiago is not a main vineyard area, but if you take for example the Camino de Invierno from Ponferrada through the Ribeira Sacra, you would probably find a lot of local celebrations going on - though participating in many of those might impair your walking ability.
