Anyone walking out from Porto towards Santiago at Sunday (11 october)?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
FYI, last year about this time, I walked from Porto to Vila do Conde and saw exactly two pilgrims that day during the walk. In VdC, we met a few more who walked portions with us the next day. By Barcelos, we had a whole gang walking together (or at least in the vicinity) and sharing meals & free time. After three weeks of the occasional interaction with other pilgrims, the last week to Santiago was a very pleasant communal experience similar to what most people see on the Camino Frances.

Don not forget to stay a night at Casa Fernanda. Her kind of albergue you will find between Barcelos and Ponte de Lima and is on the caminho in the hamlet of Vilhadiz, 3 kms after the village of Balugaës.
The best place to stay at the entire trail from Porto to Santiago. Staying there you'll get a bed and meals and drinks together with other pilgrims and is donativo.
Prepare to sing a swedish song because part of the night is singing together.
My wife and I worked there as hospitaleiros this year for some days and next year we will come back for a longer period. Fernanda and her husband Jacinto do not have a proper albergue but you stay in their privat house. Very special.
In the garden is a gardenhouse with 10 beds ,hot showers, toilets everything. Great to be there
Highly recommended
Oh yes and give Fernanda a call that you are coming on beforehand .I do not know if therecare many walking now but it can be busy because the place is very popular

Walked this section in June this summer. You may know this already but if not: take metro to Matosinhos and get off on the Mercado or farmers market exit, next to last stop on this route. If you get off on the last stop you will have to back track a bit to go over the bridge, not far. Enjoy. For me, this section of the Portuguese was the best part of this Camino route.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
An easy option is to spend the night prior to departure in Matosinhos itself. In April, I spent the night at Pensao Central near the metro stop prior to Mercado from where it's a five to ten minute stroll to the bridge and the pleasant walk to Vila do Conde.

Hi im not going with Metro or other public transport. Been walking every mm since i got here. I like it that way. I will walk along the coust for one day and then rejoin the inner route. Probably walk along the water from the cathedral SE so it will be a long day Thanks for the heads up!

Hola, Albertinho!

Do you know when exactly will you be staying at Casa Fernanda? If averything goes well I might bump in after coming on Camino Torres (from Salamanca to Ponte de Lima) because it's only 14,5kms backwards from PdL.

@Newlin : sorry for hijacking your thread and Bom Caminho

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
We intend to go coming Christmas and new year and in 2016 we will make a grand tour around Spain and Portugal by car and caravan and expect to be at Fernanda's end of june and we intend to stay until mid july.
Yes it is close by Ponte de Lima

We should have met before when I often stayed in Maribor and Ljubjana.

I enjoyed the walk from the Cathedral to Matosinhos. It is, however, a long walk from the Cathedral to Vila do Conde but entirely doable if you are used to such mileage. If you want to, that can still be done as a two day stage with a stop in Matosinhos which would allow for lots of time for extra sightseeing, rest, enjoying Portugal, etc. in either place.

You will enjoy the walk from Cathedral Se! We stopped at Matosinhos, Pensao Central for the night and continued on the next day. This allowed us to explore attractions along the river walk. Glorious! Bom Camhino!

Walked it last year. It was great. We took the trolley to the bridge the first day and walked back to Porto. Next morning we took trolley back to the bridge and continued our camino. Take the costal route, not to be missed. Buen Camino

Happy Trails
