Walking Faro to Lisbon to Santiago
Hello everyone!
My plans are going forward with walking from Southern Portugal to Lisbon, then onto Santiago.
Here are my plans so far. Suggestions welcome! I've decided to walk from Faro to Lisbon rather than starting at Lagos, because it seems that the Faro route is more built up, with some significant town roughly ever 15 miles.
Faro (elev 30 ft) to São Brás de Alportel (elev 730 ft) -- 11.0 miles
São Brás de Alportel to Ameixial (elev 1347 ft) – 21.4 miles
Ameixial to Almodôvar (elev 920 ft) – 14.5 miles
Almodôvar to Castro Verde (elev 757) – 13.7 miles
Castro Verde to Aljustrel (612 ft) – 14.8 miles
Aljustrel to Ferreira do Alentejo (elev 469 ft) – 16.4 miles (main road) or 14.8 miles (back road)
Ferreira do Alentejo to Canhestros (elev 236 ft) – 10.1 miles
Canhestros to Santa Margarida da Serra via Santiago do Cacem – 31.5 miles
Option 2: Canhestros to Grândola (elev 327 ft) -- 20 miles (eliminates one stage)
Grândola to Alcácer do Sal (elev 52 ft) – 16.3 miles
Alcácer do Sal to Marateca (elev 163 ft) – 21.7 miles
Marateca to Setúbal (elev 15 ft) – 15.4 miles
Setúbal to Almada – 22.2 miles
Almada to Lisboa – 7.5 miles
Using option 2—total of 205 miles in 13 stages
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
