When the Camino speaks

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances (2022)
One of my favourite things about the Camino is its sense of humour. I was on the Camino Frances heading towards Boadilla de Camino. The past two days had been fairly horrendous with the lack of beds resulting in 30k days. And here I was in yet another 30-35k day situation. I was feeling very sorry for myself. My feet were sore and I was moaning away inside my head. I felt very hard done by and was really wallowing in self-pity as I trudged along the seemingly never-ending stony path with my head down. At which point I spotted this stone directly in front of my foot.

Just a few moments ago this image appeared in my Facebook feed. In 2016 I walked the Olavsleden from Sundsvall to Trondheim. I was stocking up on food in a small supermarket in Gällö - very close to that outer circle - when that song started playing on the shop's music system. I don't think the staff really understood why a very bedraggled middle-aged Scotsman was laughing quite so loudly next to the tinned tuna...

Love it! I’m sure it did cheer you up

To my knowledge, no one has yet to post just what occurred in June 2014 when everyone in an albergue on the Frances had a "Mexican standoff" with the citizens of the nearby village. Started when a villager took ALL of the clothes of several Pilgrims to wash and dry them. Left them in their underwear and then would NOT return their clothes unless they would pay a large amount of cash to ransom their clothes. Crowd of pilgrims went to the guys house and rescued all of the clothes , thereby having the entire village march on that Albergue demanding the ransom money. LOT of angry people on both sides. I was in the next albergue and did not participate in the "War of the Laundry". For the rest of the Camino those who participated would smirk and giggle when asked about the "War" , but no one would say what really happened. Several promised to post the story after everyone was home, but I have never read such a posting.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
This is the first time I have read about the "War of the Laundry"........ I think it is quite amusing & would love to read posts from those involved.
