Where in France is the 1000 km sign post?

Is it on the Le Puy Route?
Somewhere about 200 km before Saint Jean Pied de Port and all together 1000 km on the Camino Frances to Santiago de Compostela.

Buen Camino!

Annie, I am not sure there is a straightforward answer to this. One thing I noticed on the Le Puy route was that signs never seemed to be in agreement about how far it was to Santiago. The biggest variation I remember seeing was just out of Le Puy itself where there were two signs- one said '1521 km' to Santiago, and the other gave a distance closer to 1800km! Both signs looked quite official.

However, somewhere around Condom you supposedly cross the 1000km mark. I took a photo of a very home-made sign not far from Condom. You can see it here: http://chemincamino08.blogspot.co.nz/2008/07/14-may.html

A whole week later though, after Miramont-Sensacq, I've got a sign that states a distance of 953km to Santiago http://chemincamino08.blogspot.co.nz/2008/07/21-may.html so it would seem that not a whole lot of progress was made in a week if both signs are correct!

PS: Sorry I can't insert the photos directly- had my computer stolen and lost all the digital versions.

Thank you, Margaret:

Why I ask is because I met a pilgrim last year who walked 1000 km to Santiago on The Frances.
It could have been Condom (or perhaps on one of the other routes) where she started her camino from. She told me there was a 1000 km sign post and she walked to Saint Jean and continued on the Frances.

Thank you for your wonderful blogs also!

That's a beautiful stone Annie! I don't remember seeing a 1000km stone on the Le Puy route, but maybe I just never noticed one.
