Bonjour à tous

I would like to walk the Le Puy camino to SJPdP and then at a later time SJPdP to Santiago. But which one to do first ??
Thanks for your thoughts.

Gijs.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

What time of year?
And what would YOU like!

I think that I would pick as first camino the camino frances, despite perhaps the many people that walk there. The atmosphere on that walk is great, let's say till about Sarria ;-) Many facilities, great difference in terrain (attacking your physique, your mental state on the Meseta and finally the rebirth in Galicia).
But as I started this reply, would are YOU looking for...

Hi pelgrimpaul. Thanks for your input. If I had my way I would do Le Puy - Santiago in one leisurely stretch / but for the home front that gives me a hard time on this. September sounds good for the Spanish part though.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Pilgrims receive the Compostela certificate for the pilgrimage if they walk at least 100 km to Santiago, and that means starting in Sarria, so the last 100 km are overcrowded with people who have got only few days or do not want to walk any longer than 100 km. The result is, you will see

big crowds
people who are poorly equipped/prepared for such a long walk and suffer a lot
people rushing to catch a bed
people taking taxis and buses instead of walking
taxis and vans ferrying rucksacks from town to town
large groups walking together

the intimate atmosphere that you find say, in the Meseta, vanishes completely and you just have the feeling you are a fish in a bath tub and somebody has removed the plug and the water pulls everyone down the drain.

It can be frustrating when you are long distance pilgrim...

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
