Picturesque St. Jean in the Pyrenees

St. Jean Pied-de-Port nestled in the French Pyrenees, ancient Basque capital, is a scenic tourist destination and a common and convenient place to start the Camino Frances.

This pretty stretch of the Nive River is home to a trout population easily visible in the clear water.

Lovely photo - look forward to standing there soon and taking a similar photo - hopefully crane in distance will have gone by then.

@jostony The wooden bridge that you'll be standing on here is the route that Martin Sheen takes to start his 'Camino' in the movie 'The Way'

That was our mistake on the first morning of our journey to Santiago on 27 th May 2013. We had watched the film so turned left at the side of the river and went over the wooden bridge but sure we eventually made it to Santiago.
