My re-introduction

Good morning from central Georgia! I'm a married father of 4. One daughter is a college graduate, another daughter is a Freshman at Georgetown University, I have a 13 yr old daughter, and an 11 year old son. I named this my re-introduction because I did originally join this group back in 2020 with plans on doing the Camino Frances in summer 2021. Last May however, my 13 yr old daughter was running at a school event and collapsed. Her heart stopped and if not for a teacher immediately starting CPR and the school nurse using an AED, she would have died. After she was life flighted to a children's hospital in Atlanta, the doctors told us that less than 15% of patients who suffer an event like my daughter away from a hospital survive and even less than 3% survive without neurological issues. She beat both odds. It turns out she has a genetic heart issue called Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia or as we call it CPVT. With medication and certain restrictions, she can live a normal life. Needless to say, this event and the pandemic made me postpone my trip.

My new start date will be somewhere between May 29th and May 31st 2023. This summer had too man events for me to work it out. Heck I even turned down a promotion from teacher to assistant principal because I didn't want to work 12 months around. I've waited years to walk the Camino and I wasn't going to cancel a dream for a pay increase.

Anyways, I hope not to bother with a ton of questions and I'm excited about reading about everyone's pilgrimages as I prepare for my own.

Hello from Texas. I am also planning on walking the Camino in 2023. I am a retired educator but in good physical condition. I have wanted to do this for years but never have so set a date for 2023. Not sure of the month but your May date sounds like a good one. Maybe I will see you on the road.

I'm 48 but I started teaching a bit later than others. I'm in year 20 now. I teach AP Literature and AP Language. It would be great to meet you on the road!
