Be careful! Last year I had a bad ankle injury in Burgos and walked on it to Portomarin taking lots of Ibuprofen to try and pretend that I was not hurt. I finshed my Camino at Portomarin, being unable to walk another step. I have just had my second lot of surgery on the ankle in 5 months, to try...
Nail Growth
Yes it was both toe nails and finger nails. Maybe if exercise was a factor then the finger nail thickening was due to using walking poles. But absolutely no doubt about it, a thickening of finger and toe nails about 4mm long, which I assume is the amount of growth over a 5 week period.
Weight Loss and Gain
A bit off subject, but an interesting observation. My finger and toe nails grew thicker whilst on the Camino. I had a ridge about 4mm long of increased nail thickness after my Camino in August and September last year, which has gradually moved upwards and is only now just...
Favourite Refuges

Hi all, I suffer from vertigo quite bad, and was wondering if the Route Napoleon had any parts where there were steep drops near to the path. If so I might be better taking the road route.
Whatever the outcome, I'm starting my first Camino 20th August SJPP flying into Biarritz at 09:15 so I...
Is it necessary to get the passport stamped every night? I am planning to do SJPP to Santiago, but intend to take a few days break along the route and stay in hotels those days. Do I neeed a stamp for the passport those days or can I miss out a few?
Regards
Chris
Hi, I will be walking my first Camino this year, St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago. Planning on leaving late August, and walking through September, but I have some flexibility on this. I read on this forum that the Camino can be quite busy at times and I am keen to avoid the busiest times, so...
