Hi Cas, I can't make the meeting this month as I am going to Busselton to speak to a community group about the Camino. Could you please pass on a HUGE thank you to Rosemary, if she is there, for very generously supporting my Oxfam walk. Rosemary, if you read this, I did find you on Facebook...
Hello all WA Camino lovers! I hope to see everyone at KP on Sunday. I returned from my Camino last month having walked the final 200km with a broken foot. It is healing well and I have now committed, with another Camino forum member from Darwin (Donna Sch) and two other friends, to walk the...
Tony, I'm in Perth and returned from completing the Camino Frances a couple of weeks ago. Happy to share info if you have any questions. Personally, I think the Altus and gaiters are the way to go but that's just my opinion. I took a good quality rain jacket also and really didn't need it...
Jenn, don't hesitate on the insurance front. I returned one week ago on a very comfortable upgraded Business Class flight through travel insurance. I hurt my foot just before O'Cebriero and continued to walk to Santiago (in a fair bit of pain) before finding out I had fractured my foot. On...
I wasn't sure about gaiters either but took them. I didn't wear them until the first day it rained and then wore them almost every day after - rain or no rain. The reason - clean trouser legs! I just returned home last week and throughout my Camino I encountered a LOT of mud which ended up...
Another little tip with the Altus or other ponchos - wearing a cap or sports visor will stop the hood from falling down over your eyes and the rain driving into your face/eyes :)
Hi Kyle, I have also just returned two days ago. Altus poncho (which accommodated my pack) with knee high gaiters kept me totally dry (except for the inevitable condensation). I found that when it stopped raining intermittently I would unzip the poncho and pull my arms out and leave the poncho...
Cath, I have just returned home two days ago. I hurt my foot just before O'Cebriero and continued to walk to Santiago and then half way to Finisterre before I gave in to the pain (and swelling). I went to the hospital in Cee after many people telling me that pilgrim's would be treated for no...
I finished the France's last Thursday and have got lots of the 'mud' photos too. However, after I broke my foot just before O'Cebreiro I was grateful for it, much softer than the alternative - rocks! Those next few days up and down were painful.
