I showered both when I came in in the afternoon, and again in the morning before setting out.
It was lovely to feel fresh after a day's walk and when starting out in the morning.
I didn't see any one else shower in the morning - plenty of hot water then.
I didn't get one blister and it's a...
The best way to deal with soggy, (or dry), tissues is to use your walking stick and poke it into the ground where it will degrade a lot more quickly and not be unsightly in the meantime.
I think that definitely I would recommend 2 pairs of trousers, be they long or Capri, ( the roll ups are good, the zip-offs are a waste of time for me).
For warm jackets, there are some lovely sleek on the outside warm and fluffy on the inside ones. Caminoists always feel cold in the evenings...
I was told that, unlike elsewhere in Spain where there is a two week limit, at Santiago the post office will hold mail and packages for 4 weeks. We did this and had no problem, sending things on for just on a month in advance.
Thank you for the documentary, it's fantastic. What a great series! Can hardly wait for the next parts. I just finished my camino on the 8/7/11 staring in SJPDP and have loved reliving it through the documentary.
You obviously did your Camino last year as it's still the old Roncesvalles hostel...
Janet,
Thanks for the Aussie campostellas for my sister and I . I have covered them with clear contact so they will stay pristine for the walk. They look fantastic, congratulations. Perfect size too!
We leave in 36 hours, feeling a bit overwhelmed, and missing my bed already.
I'm interested...
Me fix, medi pore, or Fixomull ( in Australia), is the only stuff we have used for 18 years, when it was first introduced to us by the hospital burns team, when my youngest daughter was burnt, at 9months of age.
We use it on our tribe of mad cycling children for cuts grazes blistrs and any...
Hi Beverly,
I got my buffs on Monday. I love them. I'm keeping them a surprise for my sister who will arrive the day before we leave for Europe and the Camino.
The colours are lovely and will suit my clothes. I'll be making a bit of a fashion statement.
Thanks for doing all the work.
Frances
I'm off on the Camino Frances at the end of May. Would love to chat to anyone in Perth, WA who has done the Camino to get some advice from a local here.
Frances
Tim,
I'm leaving late May for my first camino and I want to thank you for your painfully honest post about the difficulties you experienced on your first trip, ( posted some time ago ).
I have to say I have taken everything you said to heart and have mentally prepared with your experiences in...
Does any one know if camping is an option at the Refuge Orisson.
They are full on the night I'll be there and I don't want to keep walking to Roncesvalles if at all possible.
I am arriving the day before straight from 2 long haul flights and want to aclimatise gently. Plus all advice on the...
