Sometimes speaking French is not enough! On my first Camino Frances, I met a man from France, being from Quebec I naturally started to speak to him in French, but our French is a bit different than European French. After a few seconds, he told me rather pompously sorry Monsieur I can't...
The second time I walked the Camino Frances I was alone and I was not part of a Camino Family. I was able to walk at my own pace with no pressure. One thing I found funny when I walked the second time is that I remembered some places like I was only there the day before, but others I did not...
Air Transat from Montreal to Bordeaux and then train (Bus at Airport takes you to train station) to St-Jean-Pied de Port. Flights usually start early May.
In my town in Québec the Camino Association is very active. It organizes group practice walks a couple of times a week and suppers/meeting at least once a month. Locally they run preparation meetings and send-off days twice a year. A few TV personnalities have had shows on the Camino Frances...
I flew from Montreal to Bordeaux with Air Transat than took the train to Hendaye. Flight is also available from Toronto. City Bus in Bordeaux from the Airport to train station on a regular basis.

- First time I did Montreal/Paris/Biarritz and then Express Bourricot to Saint Jean Pied de Port.
- Last two times I did Montreal/Bordeaux with Air Transat and then train to SJPP, quicker and a Lot less stressful.
I did the Norte in 2019 inMay/June and Albergues are a lot scarcer and with less beds than the Frances. I ended up in Hotels a few times and twice in Camping Grounds.
I walked my first Camino when I was 59 years old and I want to do a fourth one when Covid-19 is over or controlled. If I had known about the Camino Frances when I was in my 20's, I am sure my life would be completly different now. The Camino is a great place to find yourself.
