    The Ultimate Camino Journal 2015-11-29

Based on my personal lack of success in keeping a journal, I created this for my own camino to be sure that I would at least write down things I did not want to leave to memory. When I shared this idea, so much interest was shown that I wanted to share with any other non-journaling pilgrims out...

tammi submitted a new resource: The Ultimate Camino Journal - Simple, concise, great for those that do not normally journal. Read more about this resource...

    Avoiding hassles at the airport

Decided to check the questionable items (on the way there), carry on our packs and hope for the best. I will be crushed if my PacerPoles are lost/damaged, but that seems the best option since both poles and knife can be replaced if the worst case scenario happens. We are going to end in Muxia...

    Avoiding hassles at the airport

Thanks all. I have Pacer Poles too Kit, so you can see my reasoning for wanting MY poles (rather than get them in SJPP)! They do fit in my pack, but I really wasn't sure how much of a pain it might turn into when boarding; and if it was worth it. The Swiss Army knife is one item I keep...

    Avoiding hassles at the airport

We would like to be able to bring our poles and Swiss Army knife without hassle at the airport. I'm aware the knife will have to be checked baggage (if we bring it), and the poles may or may not be an issue. I'm wondering a couple things: 1. With a non-stop flight Chicago/Madrid what are the...

New Year. Day one. Start Counting everyone!

@Al...I've been counting the days since they were slightly under 300 :-D As of today our countdown is at 142. However, that is when we leave the US. When I added on the travel/rest days, I think we are also 146 days from walking. Tuesday, May 26th we will head over the Pyrenees.

Mike & Tammi's Camino from SJPP

Joe, That's what they pay me to do! ;-) The school district I teach in is in Loves Park, IL. It's near the Wisconsin/Illinois state line, 80 miles west of Chicago.

Thank you again everyone! I am teaching Google Docs now, but we won't be to the presentations until after the Christmas break, so that is when I will be showing it to them. I will definitely check back with you all afterward in hopes that I can report they enjoyed it as much as you did...

Mike & Tammi's Camino from SJPP

Again, I must say how I LOVE this forum. NavyBlue, those are exactly the type of corrections I was hoping people would catch for me. The shift in KM to miles was intentional to help my kiddos understand the distance...the European standard for measurement is not something they use regularly...

Mike & Tammi's Camino from SJPP

Felipe...due to the incredibly strict (and sometimes ridiculous) guidelines for Common Core (blah, blah) the only way I'm able to incorporate sharing something like this is to "sneak" it into the curriculum. The assignment: an informative presentation created with Google Slides. Mine is...

Changes made! Thanks again! Side note: (educator in me creeping out) Google Drive is a wonderful thing. If you are a user of Microsoft products, and aren't familiar with it, check it out! Changes are automatic, no need to repost another link.

Oh...and the snail, as well as 90% of the pictures are from Sherry Ott. I discovered her photography and asked her permission to use it. She has some incredible photos of the camino and other places she has traveled.

Mike & Tammi's Camino from SJPP

Hello pilgrims. I have found the most useful information on the Internet for our upcoming camino on this forum. Thank you all very much. Our camino is still months away, (end of May) and as we work on preparing physically, mentally and linguistically, I am also working on something to fill my...

    Transfer Time in Madrid...

Thank you all for your very valued input! One hour had me very nervous, and your opinions verified that I wasn't just being paranoid. I was able to change our outgoing flight from Madrid to a later flight (without a service charge, whew!), giving us nearly three hours to make the connection...
