    Blogging on the Camino

    I used blogger for mine.

    Miam Miam Dodo app

I just discovered another perk. You can change the language to English in settings and it’ll make the guide completely in English – all the listings, the cultural points of interest and history, etc. So for those who are hesitant about getting MMDD because it’s all in French, you can get it in...

    Miam Miam Dodo app

I did go ahead and get one of the guides on the app, from Le Puy to Cahors. It seems to mostly work well, it just doesn’t have websites listed and the pictures don’t show up when you go into a listing. They do show up on the list view, though. And it has all the resources listed, not just those...

    Miam Miam Dodo app

Has anyone purchased and used electronic versions of the guide through the app? I think it’s new as of 2018. I’m wondering if it’s worth the price and works how it’s supposed to. I haven’t seen any reviews of it yet on the forums. When I did a search the only thing I found was either about the...

    Pilgrim mass script

I think the blessing would be closest to what I was thinking of. I didn’t go to the early morning mass in Le Puy, but I remember others who did saying that the priest asked where they were all from and gave them a blessing or prayer or something. I stumbled across a blessing this morning while...

    Pilgrim mass script

    That would be great! Thanks!

    Pilgrim mass script

Not about a druid in ancient times, just one of the main characters (not the protagonist). There are druids now, and I’ve been doing research on that. There was a druid revival in the 18th century, and the neo-pagan community in general is growing with everything from Wicca to druidry to people...

    Pilgrim mass script

Okay, what I’m understanding is that every single mass follows the same script that doesn’t really deviate, and what is said only depends on the date? I had thought that mass for a gathering of pilgrims might be a little different in wording at some point, where the priest might say something...

    Pilgrim mass script

Who said I’m writing nonfiction? I’m not Catholic, but that has no bearing on what I might write, or even who might walk the Camino. It’s called research.

    Pilgrim mass script

Is there a particular script for a pilgrim mass? I’m thinking of including one or two in my Nanowrimo book this year, but I’m not sure if the priests have a standard script that they all use or if it’s just whatever they want to say.

    Pagan Camino book?

Sorry I’ve been away so long. I was looking for stuff like the rumored altars to the sun god, or why pre-Christians might have journeyed to Finisterre. Basically, one of my main characters is a Druid and I was theorizing why he might choose to do the Camino.

    Pagan Camino book?

I read that, as well as another article or two online. Not many details, just enough to entice. I’ll see if I can get access to EBSCOhost through my library.

    Pagan Camino book?

Does anyone know of a historical text/book on the Camino before it was the Way of St James? I found a little bit of information on the web but nothing very detailed, just that Celts were making the trip and going to Finisterre rather than Santiago. I’m looking for research sources for a story I...

    Ad Astra!

Ad astra per aspera is actually the motto of my birth state, Kansas. I’ve always liked it, and added it and the cross of St. James to an existing tattoo I had of a Celtic moon and stars.

    Le Puy route fiction/nonfiction

Does anyone know of a book, either fiction or nonfiction, about or that includes a journey on the Le Puy route? Or another French route? It would have to be in print and available in the US.

    City Names & Tracking Miles

That would be Germany, Austria, or Switzerland though. What about in France and Spain? I remember some distance signposts in France, but I don't recall what might have been in Spain.

    Wild Camping Ups and Downs

This is useful. My husband and I might try camping when we go. I had read on other threads that wild camping is actually illegal though. But I can't remember if that was in France or Spain. Has anyone here had any problems with locals or authorities? Has anything about wild camping changed since...

    City Names & Tracking Miles

I don't know about the Fitbit but my Garmin vivoactive uses GPS. That might be why you're getting the same readings.

    Camino cost

Unfortunately if I didn't worry about how much it cost and start budgeting, we could very easily end up falling behind on bills. Not everyone can afford to just take off like that. Just saving is all well and good, but you have to know approximately how much to save and it happens to be a very...

    Camino cost

I used the Numbers app, but did it on my iPad. It's really nice to be able to access my documents from pretty much any device, since you can get to them by logging in to iCloud.com.
