I saw this engaging, inspiring movie in Adelaide last Tuesday with a Q&A session from Bill, his lovely wife and Johnnie Walker - both who starred in the movie. Amazing to know that most of the characters were actual pilgrims he walked with 10 years ago! Laugh out loud moments, pilgrim...
Loving your blog, Paul - it brings back memories of our walk from Lisbon last May. We stayed in a couple of the same places as you enjoying Enrico's place in Valada - and had a long lunch at the river side cafe too 😊 We went back there for dinner before it closed for the evening. We also...
Another vote for Ideas Peregrinas in Tui - excellant breakfast in the cafe - and O Lagar de Jesus in Escravitude - great vegetarian communal dinner. Also recommend We also enjoyed staying at A Darsana do Frances 1k out of Rendondela (on camino) - we stopped at a grocery store on our way...
We stayed at Zuzabed bnb - just up from the Rossio train station in the Chiado district. Excellent location and great breakfast. Luis is very welcoming and helpful.
This brought back memories of when I was a student nurse in Auckland, NZ - we raced old hospital beds down the hill of the main street (Queen Street) in an inter hospital team event🤣
Le Puy to Conques is the most popular stretch with several villages on the 'most beautiful' list - as mentioned in my earlier post we prebooked all our accommodation up to Conques. After this we only booked 2-3 days ahead. A lot of French (and others from Europe) walk in 1-2 week blocks...
For anyone else undecided - we caught a midday boat, lunched and toured the church in Pedron then walked on another 4k to stay at O Lager de Jesus - excellant vegetarian communal meal in a beautifully converted old building. It also has a swimming pool.
I have only visited Lisbon twice for a couple of days but love the vibe of this city with all it has to offer - see jungleboy's excellent article above. I would certainly visit again if I get the chance. Last May we started our Portuguese Camino from here and enjoyed the quietness of the...
We had a 14km day from Montbonnet to Monistrol d'Allier then 12km from there to Sauges and 10km from Senergues to Conques. Otherwise about 17 - 26km You can see our stages and where we stayed (some may still be operating!) in my blog walking500more.wordpress.com if you are interested. As...
Bonjour! If you have 10- 11 days to walk you could finish in the amazing village of Conques. We walked from Le Puy en Valey to SJPdP in 2018 - taking 11 days to Conques but we walked some shorter days. We booked all our accommodation up to here before we left home (Adelaide,Australia) as this...
Hi, a friend and I walked from Lisbon in May this year, a few days I walked solo as Eileen had blisters and tendonitis. As I said on another thread we didn't find it as bad as some say - probably because due to those comments our bar was set quite low😅 We met pilgrims right from the first day...
After my friend moved ahead to Porto from Albergaria A Velha due to injury ( great stay at the albergue - Kristina is an amazing host) I was intending to stay at Moinho Gracia where we had pre booked. Arrived at 1130 so continued on to try and catch up with others in our 'family' but called it...
