I needed to change my provider due to one of very many annoying and costly results of Brexit - in May this year most providers in the UK ceased data roaming. O2 however are owned by Spanish company Telefonica and so roaming is still included. Whilst setting up my new contract I was asked if I...
I did it the other way round this year. I set up my home contract with an e-sim and purchased a physical sim in Spain for data - Simyo. I got a large amount of data (can’t remember actual amount, but more than enough to post to blog for four weeks) which cost around €10.
Gosh, what a lot of replies and I have to admit that I haven’t read them all. I recently bought this one - not for use on camino but to aid my nightly slug- hunt! It keeps its charge for ages. The only problem I’ve found is that my face gets bombarded by moths and other nighttime flying...
I used my first camino backpack for four or five caminos, after which it was starting to show signs of wear and tear. I passed it to a friend who is a writer for the Lonely Planet and he has used it ever since, taking it all over the world. We are Facebook friends and I get such a thrill when I...
Thanks @davebugg for this info. I have only used a pack with “ventilated trampoline suspended mesh backpanel”, and I really like that my back stays fairly dry with this system. Do you have any words of wisdom that might tempt me to try a pack without this ventilation system? I would very much...
Yes, used the honey one for all purposes, but I found it was disappearing too fast so stopped washing clothes about half way through (there almost always seemed to be bits of soap available for use at albergues). Now I always take two bars, but then I always walk longer caminos. Wouldn’t wash...
My favourite is 'Honey I washed my hair'. It is a neutral cream colour and smells nice but not overpowering. I was given a deep berry coloured lush shampoo bar recently and would not recommend any dark coloured bars as they leave dye behind - not in the hair but on any surface where it is put...
Thank you @Waka. My boots are in the post. A rather expensive repair, but half the price of a replacement pair with no risk of them being uncomfortable.
@Waka could you give us a clue as to the walking store that dealt with this for you, or alternatively the shop that carried out the repair. Many thanks.
I use merino tights. They can be worn under walking shorts, with s skirt in the evening, as leggings and for sleeping in colder weather. Very versatile and lightweight. I would think leg warmers would be less useful, although easier to remove when walking.
Was that a play on words Laurie? :-)
I love mine, but it will probably be too big for you - possibly useful to others though...

It may be worth keeping in mind that your legs may need protection from the sun rather than the cold. I am considering just taking shorts and leggings this year (April/May camino) but am a little concerned that the leggings will be too hot some days and the shorts won't provide any protection...
I doubt you will be able to save on all three - I managed to save on the first two with a Mont Bell spiral down thermal sheet weighing 430 grams, but alas it was the most expensive item in my pack. I purchased mine from the UK, but the above link will take you to a US site where it costs $194.
Yes, I can see where you're coming from @dougfitz and I have to admit to not reading the OP thoroughly, and just jumped on the PP bandwagon. Personally I don't see anything wrong with 'idiot-proof', and I further admit that I have not tried any other types of poles. So I fit your description...
