    Irun - April 1st, 2023

Feels like I will be the only peregrino starting in Irun on April 1st. And it's not even an April fools joke... 😉 Well... I'm ready for the rain and the solitude and the coastal alternatives. Buen Camino to everyone also planning their first steps.

    Donativos on the Norte/Primitivo

I've found this amazing document that I think is owned by the same Dave? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QXxsop8Hm5RClfPwgdHX4OzK-pDn0h4s2QwIJlzZLAs/edit#gid=2087573628

    Donativos on the Norte/Primitivo

I just had to smile a little at my very hopeful comment on 06/01/2020. I am so thankful that we can now stand on the other side of this amazingly weird period. And I will be trying again on the 1st of April this year. Does anyone know if this list has been kept up to date somewhere?

    Accomodation in Valcarlos

Hi all! I'm starting my Camino in SJPdP on April 1st - no jokes! 😉 But I'm struggling to book a bed in the Albergue in Valcarlos. I've emailed them more than once but are not receiving any replies. Did anyone else have the same experience?

Hi Billy - I bought tickets for April next year. I really hope that there will be affordable accommodation options for this pilgrim paying in South African Rands ;)

Planning a Fall Del Norte Pilgrimage in 2022

Hoping to start in Irun. But I'm reading that there are very little Albergues open on Del Norte at the moment. My budget doesn't allow for more expensive accommodation so I will have to keep an eye on everyone's experience over the summer before I decide.

Hi Johan - I can reply "ditto" on almost everything you posted :) Hope to start Del Norte in September though. Buen Camino from Stellenbosch!

Planning a Fall Del Norte Pilgrimage in 2022

Hi all! I'm a peregrino from South Africa and completed the Frances in April/May 2017. I am hoping to return for Del Norte in September after a failed attempt in April 2020. It sounds like a 2022 Camino has a lot of of uncertainties. With it being a Holy Year, the Camino might be very crowded...

    Plans for 2021?

Hi Duane! Good to "see" you again. This post just put a huge smile on my face! I still remember our semi-anxious dinner in SJPDP the evening before we set out for Route Napoleon. Can't believe you are living in Spain now. I hope to get back there and walk Del Norte as soon as it is safe to do so.

To what extent did 'others' influence your Walking Distance and Stops? (Not a Poll)

I walked Camino Frances in April 2017 starting in SJPP. I wanted to walk on my own. To find myself. The extreme introvert in me did NOT want people in my space, intruding on my "me-time". About 30 days later, on my way to Muxia, I wrote the following: "After walking on my own for most of today...

Camino art - just for fun

It is such a special gift - a constant reminder that the Camino is still there. Hopefully I can return soon
