These were my sentiments as well when I arrived in Santiago and saw how many pilgrims were still so grounded in their ego way of living. Don't be surprised when you run into a lot of brick walls along the Camino in August.
On a positive note I discovered how true the laws of attraction really...
Thanks Rebekah, sounds like just the type of adventure I'm looking for. I'll be sure to look this guy up as well as the "Amigos" HQ itself in Triana which JW has recommended. Thanks again guys...
Sounds like you walked the Via recently. Did you happen to come across any albergues that are looking for hospitaleros? Im working it out with the "Asociaciones de Amigos del Camino de Santiago" to volunteer someplace along the Camino Frances after completing the Via, however I'm liking the idea...
You make a really good point. I've noticed myself that speaking about these experiences with others sort of loses some of its sense and profoundness. Some people have even given me that look, you know the "man he must be losing it" look. Also, talking to others about these personal experiences...
Yes that's what it says on the first line of the Wiki. All these sub threads and none specifically dedicated to the spiritual/metaphysical experiences that pilgrims have had during the Camino? You know, something along the lines of Paolo Coehlo's writings. A shame really...
Yea upon returning "home" Ive felt completely estranged from the depersonalized way of living and (as a companero during the during the camino put it) "the brainswashed community" that is the USA. After turning to literature (tibetan philosophy, Coelho, and surprisingly Dante) ive decided to...
Walked the Camino Frances last month and upon returning to the States I have come to realize that I dont belong in this brainwashed dehumanized society anymore so Im leaving for good. Making a stop in Amsterdam to pick up some souveniers before heading over to Seville to start the camino. Hope I...

Found this image of San Anton (the abandoned monastary before Castrojeriz) which captures quite well the impression the landscape and environment had on me as we walked the tapa (from Sambol-..de la vega)...
Here's an email I sent to some friends back home regarding my trip. Not surprisingly they could not grasp the profoundness of the camino. One of them even responded dully "I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation, see you soon." Read the last three paragraphs if it's too much...
Overall it...
My departure flight is in Lisbon and I'm thinking about driving and dropping off a rental car there from Santiago. Does anyone have any know if car rental agencies allow this?
There have been little-to-no deaths associated with the use of mushroom, cannabis, and salvia usage. Cocaine, Heroin and other alterations of Opium however are a serious problem and should not be confused with entheogens. Don't even get me started with Alcohol and Tabacco, which are "socially...
You cannot be any further from the truth. Mushrooms and other psychedelics give us a great understanding about the life and the world we live in, that we are one and are all interconnected. There was a time when this spiritual inducing substance was commonplace in the human experience (ancient...
This issue is especially important when you consider the dangers of randomly picking mushrooms and accidentally injesting any of lethal strands that can be found. A healthy forum discussion and education can shed light on the issue and help prevent accidents. This is also why in the last thread...
My original question was regarding the hunting and gathering of mushrooms along the Camino itself. So this is very specific to the Camino de Santiago and very relevant to this forum. The issue here is that there's an unjust "bad stigma" attached to this topic because society and goverments...
