I've been using booking.com post my Camino, and it has been great.
I am sure that in order for a hotel to be available for more than just booking.com customers, they may contract a certain # of rooms/day. Once those rooms are booked, you may need to go to another vendor or call the hotel...
Anyone know what bus line, how often and where in Santiago, I can get to Muxia? I feel like I am going in circles!!!

I just would like to say that the Camino is not going anywhere! Get your knees right first before investing at this time. Issy (who is somewhere on this forum and in Spain, maybe still???), has had knee issues and has pretty much been having to bus it along Spain. The conditions this year...
For the train, at 01:05, do you have to purchase a ticket upfront? Are there usually seats? Do you pay on board, or is there a ticket office? I am traveling to Logroño today via taxi, courtesy if a friend, and with the lateness, having a little anxiety. Going to Santiago for a night and then...
No, you are looking at a couch potato who did not properly condition myself. Spent too much time hooked on the forum, books and blogs, and not enough physical training.
I don't regret it one bit. Now I know what I REALLY have to do. Alto del Perdon will not be missed, just this go around...
I definitely see the pros of having a companion...not so much for the actual walking, but for someone to be with that speaks the same language. Being a slow and out of condition walker, after 4 walking hours, I am spent physically, but that could make for a very long rest period until setting...
I agree, Rebekah, but you also don't have to do the Camino all at once either. Yes, for those that are coming longer distances (US, Australia, and other non-European countries), you may feel you need to do the whole thing, but don't bind yourself to covering too many km per day. One thing I...
Yes, on the brief time I was on the Camino, pillows were provided. Sometimes with cases, sometimes without. When without, I would use my liner as a cover.

Unfortunately my Camino is coming to a clothes due to both injury and unpreparedness.
While I enjoyed and went by what I heard about others experiences, I should have been more in tune with myself. One can't expect to go from a couch potato/living on blogs/spending more time on this forum to...
Is that the same as Ciudadela in Brieley's guide? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, but like I said I am having a hard time figuring out these old Spanish big cities.

I feel all turned around, but if it wasn't for catching a cab after getting thru the crazy crowds in the old part of town, I'd still be looking for my hotel for tonight. I am staying at the Hotel Europa if that helps.

Rolling is okay, it is the steep and rocky descents that bothers my knees more.
I actually am not having issues with my pack...

I decided to move on to the Meseta for both physical and mental reasons. Physical as my knee could use more level ground, and mental to ease on the anxiety if the descents. As I basically started in the condition of a couch potato, I decided to push on. Traveling alone has its benefits and...
Decided to go to Pamplona and stay tonight and tomorrow nights and then go to Burgos on Monday and start back walking on Tuesday along the Meseta. Maybe one day I will come back when I am in better shape to tackle this. I really need the semi-flatness of the Meseta.

I was wondering if it is possible or if anyone used alternative transportation from Pamplona/Cizur Menor to Uterga. I think I can handle the walk from there but really panicking about hurting myself coming down Alto del Perdon.

Having some knee soreness and don't wish to aggravate it descending Alto del Perdon. Can anyone suggest how I might be able to get from Cizur Menor to Puenta la Reina?

Actually spent 2 nights there! First was also including the ride from Pamplona to SJPDP and second was walking from Roncesvalle to Bizkaretta. I was very happy to spend the second night and grateful they were not booked. Delicious meals both nights!

It also depends on what kind of condition you are in. My feeling is that unless you are walker that has experienced walking in all kinds of weather and terrains, don't push yourself to hard in the beginning.
You will build up (and you are hearing this from a couch potato). I finished my 4th...
As tough as it was for me to get to Orrisson, I don't regret it one bit! I met two wonderful couples, and even though they are in better shape and most likely won't meet again on the Camino, but who says our paths won't once again cross.
