Thanks Peregrina ,
I hadn't factored my walking pace into my calculations!!
I know i can do 30-35k per day as I had to do this on the Via de La Plata and sometimes even more.
Even if I meet with faster walkers I would be happy if we were hitting the same destinations despite me arriving in...
Thank you for that information Peregrina 2000. It sure sounds like a solitary walk!!
I don't like crowds but neither do I like to be completely alone for long stretches and I do like a bit of company in the evening to share a meal with.
It would be nice I think to meet a few fellow travellers...
Thank you Donna for replying, I am retired so if I decide to do this walk I can easily bring my starting date forward. Thank you too K1 for that information. I'm not too au fait with the workings of this site as I mostly just read posts .
I am considering walking the Camino de Levante in March of 2019 as I want to avoid the heat of late spring and summer. I am a bit nervous about taking it on as I understand that it can be quite a solitary walk. I would welcome company on this walk if only for a week or two, until I get into the...
Hi Gittiharre, I have read your account of walking from Geneva to Le Puy en Velay with great enjoyment.
So much so that I might give it a shot myself next April/May!!
You have a list of accommodation for this route which you make available if requested by PM.
How do I post a Pm?
I'm not too...
I'm sorry but I can't give any advice regarding the journey from Paris to Le Put as I flew into Lyon and took train and bus from there to get to Le Puy .
Hi to all on this thread. I completed my Le Puy and had a most enjoyable experience despite my initial fears concerning the language barrier, signage, accommodation etc.
Would I walk it again?
Sure I would and plan to do so next year.
Thanks to all on the forum for your tips and advice. Tom
Thanks for that, i will wait for the next train from Part Dieu which is about 19.30 . I'm caught whichever way i go at this stage. The train from Perrache won't get me in any earlier and both journeys are partly by bus due to maintenance work being carried out on the lines
Hi Peter, i bought two guidebooks off the English Confraternity of St James.
The Michelin Guide is a slim green covered book, about 6x4 inches and the other book was a Confraternity own publication on the Le Puy route.
The former has good clear route maps, along with elevations and basic...
Hi Peter, basically what I did was book my accommodation as far as Conques according to the stages in a little Michelin guide book that I bought.
Apparently the pressure comes off after Conques as Le Puy to Conques is the most popular section of the route.
I booked a hotel in Le Puy off a...
You're a gem and thanks again so much for your practical and helpful advice.
I more or less panicked into booking my first week's accommodation as I read on forums that May is very busy on the route and that the French walk en masse and block book beds.
Time will tell if this is true!!
Thanks BShea for that information, I have a Hotel booked for my stay in Le Puy and that's what I was worried about as when I looked at the train schedule I reckoned that I might not get to the hotel until 11.30 approximately. I then have a tough first day as I have accommodation booked in St...
Thanks for your advice and help.
My flight gets into Lyon from Dublin at 16.30.
I've looked at the Trainline site and by the looks of things there's some kind of maintenance taking place as the journey time is about 5 hrs and a bus trip is involved!!
I'm starting from le Puy on the 17th of May. I'm flying from Dublin to Lyon and was considering booking my train ticket to Le Puy but i was worried what would happen if my flight was delayed and i missed the train i had booked on?
