you never know when its going to be usefull.
I have found it very very very usefull on a number of occasions. You are rearely "on your own at that time of year but at times it may be some time before someone passes, Ive seen a number of people...
Hi,
I don't think its a case of places being safer than others. My experience of the Camino is that it is very very safe. By and large people walk at their own pace and sometimes know in advance where they intend to stop and other times, make a decision as they go depending on how they feel...
Will some one sit with you?
Well that depends on whether you are willing to share your sandwiches ... and whats on them .. :D
Don't worry about the anxiety, by the time you are one hour out of SJPDP you will be too tired to be anxious ..... Only joking.
I felt the same way the first time...
Here is a definition from an "Urban Dictionary" on line,
snowdropping
originated in Australian prisons. It is a slang word for stealing clothes from other people's clothes lines. Prisoners sometimes did this when needing a quick change of appearance.
E.g. The convict entered my neighbour's...
I'm pretty sure "Snow droppers" are people who help themselves to other peoples clothing by taking them off washing lines, although I havn't heard the term for years.
I have no idea why they are called "Snow droppers"
Hi Lisa,
I'm also in Sydney and have walked the Camino Frances twice and will be leaving Sydney on April 18 for a third go.
I don't know if all of your questions have been answered, but you will find that there are lots of helpful people here who will try very hard to answer your questions and...
AHHHHHHHH now I see,
I thought for a moment, there had been a post recently about deviations and detours from the Camino but I though "geez Gibraltar is a bit extreme" Laugh
Just remember to breathe in and then breathe out ....... Slowly, and continue to do so
(seems simple enough but I forgot at times Laugh)
But seriously as others have said, take your time and try to enjoy every single moment because later you will have huge memory gaps of certain bits...
Hello all,
I posted a while ago starting the Camino in Pau, and got some great info, at present I'm tossing up whether to go over Somport or start somewhere else in France and walk to SJPDP having had a few days walking before reaching SJPDP. Pau - SJPDP via Oloron or Navarrenx is still an...
Hello all,
Its been a while since I've posted but have been reading all the posts with great interest. Particularly inspiring was a recent post about FEAR (which I believe was a brave post) and the replies were all very encouraging.
Anyway back to the point ...Laugh My wife and I will be...
Hi Javier,
Thanks for this post. I also saw the pics from 12 April Brrrrr
I am due to start from SJPDP on 27 April and am wondering was this weather (on the 14th of April) forecasted?
I wonder if these people just had bad luck or were they under prepared? I have always read that it is wise to...
Hola Ivar,

Hi Laurie,
Thanks for that, yep from the web page pics it certainly is the Hotel Airas Nunes. I was really disappointed last time when it was full especially because I ended up at a really awful place nearer to the train station that wasn't much cheaper. I might have another look at the...
Greetings all,
Does anybody know the name of a small "boutique" type hotel that is (as far as I can recall) just next to or in front of the Pilgrims office in Santiago? Or There is another a few doors down. I tried both in 2007 being in the the mood for some Luxury after 800kms ( OR SHEER...
Ahhh there's always two sides to every coin.
I have an acquaintance her is Sydney who walked in 2006 and I've met up with him a couple of times and he tells me the same story ... he was at Samos at the monetary and it was so awful and he was treated so bad that as the albergue there asked only...
But it would be scary .....
A friend of mine did a long walk here in Australia that is almost all bush (Forrest wilderness etc) there are only a few town in the whole 800 or so kilometers so they had to carry food water fuel etc. There are "huts" along the way but there offer just a roof over...
