    We made every Sunday a rest day.... Which was a short distance... "half days", roughly 2 to 8 miles when we were averaging around 15. This truly felt as if we didn't walk at all that day. It was also to make sure we made it to Sunday Mass.

    Yes as already mentioned, only the higher elevation Napoleon route is restricted. The Valcarlos route is not. AND, actually, if I remember correctly, the Valcarlos route is the original route of the first pilgrims!!!

    Going separate ways on camino?

    I 100% agree with what another pilgrim told me, is that it's really not a camino/pilgrimage unless you do it solo. Since then, for me, I have modified it... If you have not actually "lived with" the other person for the last year or preferrably more, don't plan on walking the whole Camino...

    I made up my "stone"... A couple months ago. Found some railroad spikes while doing some practice/training hikes along an abandoned railroad line. I saved them for my stone/burden, because they reminded me of the nails of Jesus. I then got some VERY old barb wire from our original family ranch...
