How to decide how long to walk for

I do not want to one-up my friend Laurie, but in 2017 I walked numerous Caminos for nearly 3 months. I was living in Biarritz at the time and could go any time I wanted. In addition to my walking I also volunteered at San Anton for two weeks, I wish I had kept a log of how many k's I did that...

A stop at the Bodega in the middle of Moratinos is definitely worth the time.

Bike rentals for delivery to SJPP

I used Cycling Rentals a number of years ago. Walked SJPdP to Pamplona, had bike and accessories delivered to my hotel in Pamplona. Dropped the bike off at a bike shop in SdC at the end of my ride. It was seamless.

LIVE from the Camino O Cebreiro Snow Today

I spent a night there after riding a horse from Herrerias. I started my ride in freezing rain and arrived during a sleet storm. Snow was being forecast around noon and the pilgrim traffic was at a standstill. I stopped at Meson for a warm bowl of soup, found out there were no places to sleep but...

Hiking up O Cebreiro in the Rain

I did it on horseback once in rain and sleet, it was not a pleasant way to do it but at least I got to the top about twice as fast as I could have walked it.

    Atypical/memorable albergues on Camino Francés?

Several memorable ones on the CF which have changed hands, so I have no idea what their current status is: Casa Magica in Villatuerta and Pilar in Rabanal.

    Portomarin Bridge Closure

The featured menu del dia today is poisson d'avril in the city with no port that is not on the sea.

    Portomarin Bridge Closure

Paul Garland has posted a notice on Facebook that the Portomarin Bridge will be close on 1 April for seismic stress testing. Pilgrims can cross the Mino on the lower Roman bridge but without their backpacks. The packs will be subject to a security scanner and passed over the river on a zip-wire...

    Between Pamplona and Najera

A wonderful Morcilla, as well, which I can't quite decide is a local recipe or from Burgos.

N135 Puerto de Erro to Zubiri

I have driven a car on this route many times and depending on the day of the week and the time of the day it can be heavily trafficked with many surreptitious trucks going across the border to avoid customs inspectors. I would avoid it at all costs if the weather is bad. The verge is almost...

Laguardia, a medieval town a short distance north of Logrono, host many wine bodegas and is the jumping off point for vineyard tours in la Rioja.

LIVE from the Camino Camino CF - March 2024

Spanish like their dinners after nine and normally take a largish menu del dia around mid-day. I am surprised after one week out of Burgos you did not find bodegas open in towns like Fromista and Carrion. Reb Scott recently wrote that the place in Moratinos opened this week.

Pamplona to Estella in three gentle days (March 18-20 ish)?

If you are talking about the road to the right after Alto del Perdon, it is all pavement and less steep than the rocky path but it will take you longer to join up with the Camino at the bottom.
