For many of us who live in Europe, the weather is certainly a factor in terms of when to do a camino. True, two weeks of vacation here and there does help but seriously...would most of us leave to walk a camino under 40C or under extremely adverse weather conditions?
I would stay away from Paris during the Olympics and if you can, use Barcelona and/Madrid to fly to Europe. I will be in Paris next month and will be able to see first hand what Parisians are saying. I do know that prices of hotels, lodging have risen significantly. A new metro will start...
I would equate walking with moving one’s body on a relatively flat and short surface while hiking, IMHO, would have to do with duration and various different terrain.
I am obliged to walk to muscle my back before setting out again on the Olvidado late March 2024. I found a 20 kms trail..actually road, that gives a real workout with rucksack..
I carry magdelenas and instant coffee in « barettes » (coffee packaged in strips that one can open at the top or bottom) and when really needed, added to hot sink water for a cup of instant coffee. Hey, one does what he needs to do…with the elements.
I walk with 5 types of medications. I plan 45 days on the road and take 60 days worth meds with me in a plastic box. I also copy the prescriptions to AirDrop and Files in case I need them. Pharmacists will generally give you an emergency supply in case of need, the worst being that you will need...
