I walked all of CF (solo) in 2017. At that time, I did nothing special to prevent blisters. I think I had a small blister or two but nothing memorable and definitely nothing that slowed me down. Last month I walked half of CF with my wife (our plan for 2017). I thought I'd be very proactive on...
My wife and I stayed with Daniel and the other priests last week. We sat with him at the communal dinner. The entire experience was one of the highlights of our Camino! Donation has been made.
Thank you mods for making this decision as it alerted me and subsequently others. My wife and I were on the Camino when Rob died. We met several people a few days later who were in his room at the time of his death. My wife has stayed friends with them and has forwarded this thread on to them so...
Fwiw, I thought there was significantly less litter on CF this Sept/Oct than I did during Sept/Oct 2017, especially toilet paper. I was pleasantly surprised.
...non-Spanish speaker. Last night in tiny Villafranca’s Centro de Salud and again today at the ER at the University Hospital here in Burgos we had an *extremely* difficult time. Not a single person spoke English. If they have a “translator” then that person wasn’t around. Absolutely no idea...
I’ve heard people say only crazy people walk across a country. Must be the craziest who do so on their honeymoon. (We are getting quite the response from people on the Camino when we tell them!). For those that want to join us virtually....

I've never had a problem taking my Osprey 48L pack on a plethora of flights with various carriers. I do detach the "brain", which stays with me during flights. Plan to do the same tomorrow when departing for Spain.
Kia now comes with bugs? Driving a Kia gives you blisters? I'm leaving next week for SJPdP, do I need to pack a suit and tie like that guy? I have so many questions.......
I walked CF in Sept/Oct of 2017 and took a 45 degree down bag and was very happy with my choice. In fact, my wife and I are starting CF a few days after you next week and we both have 45 degree down bags packed.
I had two incidences of bedbugs in 2017 and this after carrying a treated bedbug sheet (which I later discarded) and treating gear with Permethrin. I avoided a third incident just by checking around mattress. I leave next week for CF again and you can bet we will closely inspect before deciding...
During my 2017 Sept/Oct walk we referred to this as “the grey wave”. ;) I’ll be there in less than 2 weeks and anticipate the same. I am confident in my strategy to manage any wave.
Thank you for taking time to post this. A good reminder to stay vigilant. It’s easy to get lax about safety of backpack/personal belongings on the Camino and believing that everyone has positive intentions.
You might ask your medical provider if using Voltadol Forte gel is recommended for your hip issue. In Spain it is easily available, cheap, & without a prescription (no idea a/b Canuck land but in the US none of those apply). Tell the doc it’s even available in 23.2mg/g strength.
Best wishes to...
Thank you so much! I will make every effort to stop there in a few weeks.
Yes, this is the pilgrim and incident. I was the one who made the 112 call they refer to in the article. I was so thankful that I had cell reception. I have thought about this pilgrim endless times since that day. The...
Can someone help me figure out where the Bomberos crew responds from Zubiri area? In Sept 2017 just before Zuburi I witnessed not only a pilgrim fall and be seriously injured (ultimately required emergency facial/cranial surgery) but also witnessed the responding Bomberos guys do an absolutely...
