    Stage 28

I searched out her posts. She was planning to start the Frances from SJPdP on April 3rd. My assumption is that she means either Brierley's or Gronze's Stage 28. Robo probably has it dialed in correctly.

    Chilly camino

Not judging from all the other threads about recent full albergues... OP, definitely tongue in cheek, but since you're going to see the bones of one who may have touched the Divine ( to shamelessly steal @Tincatinker wonderful phrase), you may want to consider praying in St James' belief...

    Travel agency suggestions?

To actually answer your question... ;) ... I used CaminoWays in 2021 for Sarria- Santiago for me and my husband, and was quite satisfied. I had no apps on my smartphone at the time ( not even this forum, as I hadn't learned about it), and only a copy of the Brierley guide, which did its best...

    Atypical/memorable albergues on Camino Francés?

BTW, SP, if you choose the Primitivo and can't make both Bodenaya or Samblisimo work (I didn't try either, since I was shipping a backpack), I highly recommend Albergue El Cruce, a private donativo in La Espina, down the street a little way from the Paradilla.

    Snowfall in the Roncesvalles area

I had to look that place up...it was cold rain and wind when I traveled it on about 20 Sep 23. Easily the most miserable day of my Camino, weather wise.

Pre-booking CF in August-how crowded is it really?

Three observations... ...I ended up reserving 1 to 3 days ahead on the Primitivo last year up until the end. The last 50km of the Frances were pretty full at the end of September on the weekend. You should be good working 1-2 days ahead until at least Sarria. ...I'm pretty sure that I...

Two injured and disorientated pilgrims rescued by Guardia Civil near Pereje

Well, Google translate helped a bit...did the article imply that they ended up on the wrong side of the river and apparently not near the Camino?

List of Churches - Sarria to Santiago

What David said. What information are you looking for? I found misas.org not too hard, * if* what you want is to attend Mass. You tell it what day you're interested in, let it use your location, and it will tell you what churches in a radius around your location will have Mass at what...

    Train Madrid to Leon

Summary of everything said above: 1. It's too early to reserve for September. RailEurope let me book for my Sept train last year in about April or May, ahead of Renfe. I don't recommend booking on Renfe from the US...they're quite tempermental about US credit cards. 2. Plenty of options to...

What is your favorite (affordable) restaurant on the Camino Frances?

Not sure about affordability, but I have very fond memories of the Meson just past the historic Ribadiso albergue. Outstanding pulpo and Padron peppers.

Bed Race → Astorga to SdC early April

...There are private donativo albergues that take reservations. That being said, April shouldn't be a problem. Semana Santa is the week *before* Easter, and as has been noted, Easter is March 31st this year. Honestly, April is nowhere near peak season for Camino. You'll likely be fine...

    Sarria too busy?

A group of us on What's App in late September were trading pics of the Camino Frances between Melide and Santiago over a couple of days. The people trying to stay in municipal albergues, either on or off stage, saw and took pictures of crowds ( defined as multiple groups on the Camino path)...

Should I risk not booking in SJPDP and go for the refuge instead?

And if your arrival is delayed for any reason....

    Memorial tree planting near Castrojeriz

Given that this memorial appears to be for hospitaleros or others who served the Camino, I doubt it highly. Use Google Search on this forum for other discussions of spreading ashes along the Camino. If I recall correctly, it summed up to, "Don't be obvious, and don't bring all of her." I'm...

Camino Newbie - Lots of Advice needed and appreciated

...Semana Santa, are more likely to be full. Gronze is only as reliable as its updates. If you do find a service (Correos?) to ship your bag, you *may* be asked to have a reservation where you ship your bag. Or at least know if the destination is open. I am probably a generation older than...

    Albergues Cost

Realizing that it's a different route, private albergues on the Primitivo were pretty uniformly €15 a night in September 2023. Now, whether that included sheets and/ or a towel would vary, and it never included laundry above and beyond the sink, nor would it generally include food.

    Stamps- missing a few days

...what people who've worked in the Pilgrim Office (Flog and TJAndreo, if my memory serves) have posted on other threads .... ....you're not missing *consecutive* stamps. That's good. For more than 100km and for the distance certificate, they (and MikeJS says the same), you should be...

    Toilet paper, litter and graffiti

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I am reliant on translation. ;-)
  19. D

    Toilet paper, litter and graffiti

...couple of observations here. 1. As many have said across multiple threads, there is no one (or even one autonomous region's) agency that exists *and has funding, or receives it* to "maintain" Camino routes, or their albergues (with the exception of Galicia Xuntas), or any other services...

LIVE from the Camino CF trip report

I hate to bring it up....but, Marska, I came down with a mild cold 2 days after my flight home. Except it was Covid. Please stay in private rooms until you get over whatever yours is. Best of luck.
