Personally I didn’t feel like my body had really adapted until I reached Logrono but YMMV. I’m 32 and very overweight so you might reach that point faster.
I'm surprised they're wearing out so fast. I wore the same shoe on the camino and it was still going strong when I reached SdC (other than being very very dirty).
Are they getting overly wet? When you get the new pair, might help to stuff some newspaper in them at night so they dry out more.
Cortisone didn't do much for me either when I encountered some bed bugs on the CF last month, but I went into a farmacia and said "chinche de cama" and they gave me a cream of some sort (I forget the active ingredient) which worked well enough. Holding an ice cube on it can provide some...
I was very glad I spent the night at Borda. In fact if I could do the first few days over again I’d go even slower: SJPDP-Borda-Roncesvalles-Espinal-Zubiri.
That stretch presents many physical challenges, I think if you have the time it’s a good idea to take them very slowly. I didn’t and it...
I just arrived in Villafranca del Bierzo. A storm two days ago washed a great amount of ash from a nearby fire into the water system and the entire town’s water supply is now unfit for drinking...
Why not cut out a day in Paris and leave for SJPDP a day earlier? Note you can also take the high speed train to Bayonne and connect to a regional train to SJPDP.
I spent a couple days in Paris on my way to the Camino as well but found I didn’t enjoy them as I was too excited/anxious to get...
It took me 3:45, but with many breaks. I set out from SJPDP at 8:00 and arrived at Borda at 14:50.
I would suggest spending the night in SJPDP for a stress free start.
I agree. I’m sitting at a cafe in Ventosa. Traffic since SJPDP has not been heavy and beds have been plentiful. I have yet to be in a dorm room that was even half full.
FWIW I’m on the CF currently (Estella tonight) and I haven’t had any issues finding either beds in albergues or private rooms as I go. I haven’t booked anything more than a day in advance, other than SJPDP and Borda. I’m sitting the Agora albergue right now, nearly 9PM, and not even half the...
Can anyone recommend a podiatrist in Pamplona? Preferably English speaking.
During the descent into Zubiri yesterday I think I developed what I think is a nasty case of posterior tibial tendinitis and I’m not sure I can continue without some professional help.
I’ve developed a severe pain...
