    Best tape to prevent blisters

PART TWO Performance: Blister Prevention The primary test was how the Engo Blister Patch performed with loose (baggy) socks. If the loose sock material rubbed against the skin of my feet, then that would create the conditions for Shear Force Friction, which is the key factor for blister...

    Best tape to prevent blisters

Due to word count limits, this is posted in two parts. Part Two appears below as a separate post in this thread. PART ONE Engo is a company which has created a line of friction-reducing products related to various health and safety concerns. One of these products are known as “Engo Blister...

Advice sought for wounds on feet from walking

I highly recommend engo pad that go into your shoe to stop friction points. I was getting a hot spot on one foot where my orthotic met the side of my shoe. Couldn't really tell there was a ridge there, but, after many kilometers, I knew there was a point of friction there. The engo pads are...

This now led me to injinji toe socks. I now wear them on all multi day hikes. Basically blisters are...

    Effectively Avoiding Blisters

...to walk, you put in place the best prevention for that particular blister area, because the prevention is what stops the blister-causing forces. Engo patches are great, but they aren't applicable to every blister (eg: pinch blisters and blisters between toes, because there's no part of the...

I carry some extra Engo patches. The most important of these little blue slippery patches are already inside my boots wherever my foot might rub. Great blister prevention. Buen Camino

    I'm so discouraged!

I am also partial to Omnifix tape--worn before any problem. It is a flexible tape and you cut off the amount you need. I wrap it around the ball of my feet. I also wrap Medipore tape around any of my toes that tend to have problems. No blisters in a very long time.

    I'm so discouraged!

Agree, the Engo Patches are like a permanent lubricant. Lubricants need frequent reapplication. One Engo patch application will last your entire Camino, as long as you get good initial adhesion. Application technique is important, as is the need to adhere them to perfectly dry and lean surfaces...

    I'm so discouraged!

I learned about the Engo patches when reading Fixing your Feet by Jon Vonhof. I have used them for 6 or so years now on that many Caminos and believe they work -- for me. They are a small blue super-slick patch that you put inside your boot or shoe wherever your foot rubs. As with foot...

By all means get advice on that from a podiatrist, but for what it's worth, I'd have an ENGO Blister Patch on the insole so it went from the middle of the big toe, back to just past the knuckle joint at the ball of your foot.
