While camping on the Oregon Coast a few weeks ago with my family, my adult daughter and my grandkids helped me get started playing Pokemon and it is a hoot!! That being said, for me personally there is a time and place for everything. I'll be walking across Scotland in 2 weeks and I will...
And what a journey and adventure you have in front of you!! Indeed you will meet and make friends from all over the world and some will be lifelong friends. Walk at your own pace and savor the peace and freedom! Buen Camino, Peregrina!
I walked in 2012 from SJPdP in Sept-early October and it was wonderful! We had something of everything..cold, hot, windy, sunny, cloudy, rain, fog...no snow! It was pretty brown and dusty, but still beautiful. I went with a group and we skipped the Meseta.
I walked again in 2014 from mid...
I hear ya, Fr. Jeffrey. It's been 2 1/2 years since I walked last and I still have flashbacks. I think of Spain & the Camino every day. I own copies of "the Way" and "Walking the Camino; Six ways to Santiago" and watch them every once in awhile.
I'm going to Scotland with two friends...
Four weeks from today I leave for Scotland and my ancestral trek across the country. My paternal grandfather was born in Galashiels. I have a patch that say "Proud to be Scottish" and a heart shaped piece of my family's tartan for my pack. It seems we are a part of the McClaren Clan. I...
I hope your husband is recovering well from his shoulder reconstruction. I don't know how long it takes to recover from a surgery such as that, but it sounds pretty complicated. I understand his taking his enforced rest badly. I'm very impatient and there were times during my initial...
Fr. Jeffrey, I did not know you are on this Forum. What a wonderful Surprize! I am so envious that you got to see Pam from Perth on your second walk. Four weeks from today, I leave to walk across Scotland on the John Muir Way. It is the ancestral walk I talked about. It is kind of a test to...
Same for me. I will go back in 2018 for my third Camino and was hoping it would be done. It was there in 2014 and in no way did it diminish the bittersweet joy and sense of gratitude of having completed my pilgrimage. The sight of it was overwhelming.
Thank all of you for the wonderful replies. Took me awhile to get back here due to logging in issues, but those seem to have resolved. I have missed being on this forum and now I remember why! It's the support, encouragement and love that is shown to all by all.
I walked the Camino for the second time in the spring of 2014 and haven't been on the Forum since. I returned home after two months in Spain and on the Camino and found the transition back to my daily life confusing & painful (physically) . I had developed very painful tendonitis about three...
I am leaving September 7th for Scotland and will walk the John Muir Way from Helensburgh to Dunbar which is John Muir's birthplace with two friends. It will be a very different walk, that is for sure. All accommodations are arranged along with luggage transport. B&B's appear to be 4star all...
Oh No!! This is just awful! I am so sorry this has happened to you. Know in your heart that many pilgrims on this forum and the APOC will keep you in their thoughts and prayers. I sincerely hope you are feeling better very soon.
Good Grief!! Just yesterday, my friend Sharon & I were saying “one year from now we will be walking on the Camino”. All of a sudden it is “two more sleeps” and we’ll leave for the Camino. Where did the time go? We fly out of Portland, OR on Friday and will land in Madrid on Saturday morning...
I was experiencing pain in the same area. My PT suggested a “patellar band”. It is worn just under the kneed and supports the tendon that goes over the knee cap. Have you been checked out for possible patellar tendonitis? Just a thought....
Actually Stefania, I’m only 4 days ahead of you if you start on May 18th. I’ll walk out of SJPdP on May 14th. I’m older than dirt and am on the robust side, so I am pretty slow. So, you may very well catch up and overtake me. I am planning on walking into SDC on June 25. After a days rest...
Kris, I find myself feeling the same way..reading that pilgrims are planning to start in the fall and here I am, just 5 days from departure for Spain and 9 days from starting my walk. It’s here too soon and even though I’m taking 6 weeks to complete it..well, I won’t go there...I just won’t...
When I returned from my first Camino in 2012, I was really confused! Transitioning back into “normal” life was really difficult and I had no one to talk to abut it. I didn’t know about the “Post Camino Blues” syndrome. Friends were beginning to roll their eyes and family kinda said “yeah...
