Thoroughly enjoyed your camino. I do agree the final day is not glamorous. All part of the overall experience though.
In Chaves, did you walk all the way across the river on the giant stones? It was an eery experience being right out in the middle of the river - walking ‘on’ water.:)
That is such a pretty region with all the tumble down buildings. Glad I didn’t encounter a snake that big! 😲
Are any of the snakes in Portugal/Spain dangerous to humans? I’ve only seen the very small ones.
You guys have no idea how much this thread is pulling at my heart strings!✨✨✨💓💓 I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since I walked that route. I’ll be following your every steps. Thanks so much for posting, Nick and Wendy.
As usual your descriptions and photos are marvellous. Remember to pop in a...
I’m thrilled that you’ve made it to Santiago ‘safely’ albeit rather ‘war-torn’ from the CPI.
A great adventure you’ve had, and I’m sure you’ll be back to do another camino.
Rest up, eat and drink aplenty and give yourself a massive pat on the back. A job well done.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Oh @Aurigny , what an epic journey.
I’m loving your ‘turn of phrase’ and can picture myself in many of the spots you mention. It certainly has become a lot more overgrown since 2015, it seems.
I also had a love-hate relationship with the first week on the CPI. Those steep climbs followed by...
Glad that they are a little help ! I’ll dig out my notebook later today and see if there is anything else I can help with. Please PM me if you are stuck. Do you use Whatsapp (I’ll PM you)
Oh, oh oh! @Aurigny your CPI sounds a lot more ‘overgrown’ than when I did it.
I’m sorry my notes are not more detailed. It is certainly great to have your additional info for those wishing to do this camino in the furure. It definitely will never get as busy as the other Portuguese routes ;)
I...
…and there are quite a few posts now on the CPI thread (a good place to start your research)
I can thoroughly recommend this route. https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/forums/camino-portugues-interior-route.163/
Of course, for any extra gems, Aurelio (@amsimoes) always has the latest...
Hi DLJ, you are after the CPI as Laurie has mentioned above. There is a ‘bike’ path from Farminhao to Viseu but it appears that most pilgrims start in Viseu as it is easier to get here from Coimbra. As at 2015 (when I walked it) the route was not marked from Coimbra so I took a bus from there to...
Hey Aurelio, that’s great information. I remember having trouble getting out of Regua on the CPI. I’d llike to do the Torres one day. Have you walked it?
Grace
Mal, I hope you are able to stay in Allariz. It’s a beautiful city to wander around, great bars/food and the albergue (seminario) is lovely too. The route is a bit ambiguous from here. Buen Camino, Grace
Hi Mal, I did this last year and enjoyed both the Portuguese and the Spanish sections. I did find that the marking from Verin to Ourense (on the lower leg of the Sanabrese) was lacking. I hope the local Pilgrim Associations have been out with some yellow paint since then. Enjoy the rest of the...
Hi Catherine - I have uploaded my notes to the Resource section. Ivar created a new section for the Camino Portuguese Interior.
It was wonderful (very quiet though). Scenery was spectacular, people lovely and great albergues. You’ll enjoy!
Cheers, Grace
