I understand it's not the base weight but you will be carrying it. We carry two 2 liter bottles of water while we walk. What is a known daily weight we figure into the packs weight.
I think you have it reversed, you use the rubber tips to protect the graphite tip on hard surfaces. And the rubber tips removed on softer terrains.
The metal tips can slide on concrete, stone or asphalt surfaces.
And if the sock is waterproof then your feet can't breathe won't your feet also sweat? Sounds like you're trying to avoid one problem while causing another.
Not a good idea, maybe when you were little playing in the snow. Your feet will sweat and move inside the shoe causing a blister and stink. Your boots will however be soaked and in need of news papers to attempt drying them over night. Wet feet is inevitable if it rains and you wear poncho or...
You don't really put enough on the cause of problem in the socks. Also your feet are going to absorb some of the Vaseline. We cut off a piece from a bar of Fels-Naptha when that's gone we just turned the bar soap.
